Summary
1899. Josie has never questioned her life in a mining village on the South Yorkshire coalfield. But everything changes when she meets Tommy from the neighbouring village. Tommy has been destined for a life underground since the moment he was born. But he has far bigger dreams.
Josie and Tommy become fast friends, united by their desire for something better and by their fascination with the local gentry who have their keeping. Wealthy and glamorous, the Sedgewicks of Silvermoor inhabit a world that is utterly forbidden to Tommy and Josie. Beautiful.
An excellent, gentle storyline with hints of the gothic, beautifully narrated. Highly recommended. I will be reading more from this author.

Beautiful read
Narrated brilliantly
Lots of twists and turns to keep you engaged
Heartwarming characters, past real life situations and lives of mining villages aswell as other more fortunate lives
Captured the history well I thought
Bought this book in a sale not knowing anything about it and didn’t regret it

Engaging
It was a gentle but detailed account of life in a mining community at the turn of the century. Really enjoyed it. Nice narrations and a twee but not sickly story.

Absolutely wonderful

So Good !
I loved every minute of this book. A fabulous tale. I fell in love with the characters and I cried, I fumed and I laughed ...a rollercoaster of emotion throughout. I did not want it to end. Excellent narration.
