Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

David Raker is back with another heart-pounding and tense missing persons case.

Ten seconds before the crash, Cate and Aiden Gascoigne are recorded on CCTV. The couple are laughing—happy, untroubled.

Then their car plunges into a ninety-foot ravine.

The impact should kill them. And if that doesn't, the fire will. Within seconds, the vehicle is an inferno—with the Gascoignes trapped inside.

But when fire crews arrive at the scene, they find something impossible.

The vehicle is empty.

Cate and Aiden have vanished.

Now only missing persons investigator David Raker can solve the mystery....

Gripping.

Very good set of narrators. This audible was a good introduction to Tim Weaver for me. I shall definitely choose some more now even though I have to work backwards and piece together David Raker's life. The Blackbird keeps you engaged from the start, and you just want to discover the hidden secrets of the missing couple. He intertwines past and present in an excellent way.

Blackbird

Great book, maybe the best yet. It ended badly for Raker though. He’s going to have difficult time recovering from this.

The addition of Anjili Mohindra for the female parts added so much more to the book. Joe Coen and Brendan McDonald were outstanding as usual Laing the parts of Raker and Healy.

Enough intrigue for a dozen books… too much for one

There’s just too much going on in this book. There’s plenty to like, but too much. Its heap more than a story. One thing after another. A bit more focus would pay dividends I think. For me the plenitude of plot conceals a poverty of real story making. Others will find this more interesting. Not me. I couldn’t wait for it to end and feared that it might never wind up.

Another smasher in the Raker series

David Raker are is really now just like an old friend: the reader is especially good at transmitting a sympathetic character he sounds young though with a middle-aged daughter I’m not sure- but anyway if he said he’s charismatic and handsome so I can imagine that .
The story as usual is complicated with many twists and turns big surprises throughout; at the end there is a cliffhanger of sorts - can’t wait for the next instalment. Thanks Tim!
