Summary

Lily is back from Australia for the first time in seven years to spend Christmas at her mum’s house in a small, gossipy English village. To her surprise, she returns to find that her mother is dating the man next door, who also happens to be the father of her ex-boyfriend Tom. Tom, who broke Lily’s heart all those years ago. Tom, the real reason Lily fled to the other side of the world and stayed there. Tom, who is also home for Christmas and right there, next door.

In what is shaping up to be the worst Christmas ever, somehow Lily and Tom have to try to get along and play happy families, but living with the man who she is clearly not over is proving to be difficult, and tensions are high. Add in some drunken caroling, a reindeer bite, a potent Christmas pudding and some meddling parents and Lily’s trip home will turn her entire life upside down.

Easy listen

Lovely story with funny bits, easy to switch off too but downfall is the narrator.

Cozy English Christmas Story

Had a lovely afternoon listening to this story, Lily returns home after a long time away living in OZ away from Tom, her first love and the guy who broke her heart. Time away from the UK has become more lonely now that her peers are starting to settle down and have kids, now shes hating her job, feeling stuck and isolated and wants to come home and enjoy the holidays, forget how listless shes been feeling, dealing with Tom and her mothers new relationship with his dad wasnt what she'd had in mind, but the longer shes home, the more she realises thats exactly where her heart is, and Tom has been regretting the day he ever let it go. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Big cuppa hot chocolate, a cozy fire and Rachel Tidds narration and the funny story will have you filled with festive cheer.

A seasonal tale

Loved the story and the narration, it was a little predictable but that is what you expect with a Christmas romance

Lily’s Christmas surprises

This was just what I wanted. Lots of fun, misunderstandings, quirky characters, Santa, reindeer, realisations, rings.
Lily hasn’t been home from Sydney for years and her mum has failed to warn her of the new sleeping arrangements.
Just imagine - her old boyfriend (the one who broke her heart and was the reason she moved across the world) turns up! I wonder what’s going to happen!!!

Witty and fun

This book gave me many laughs, it has some very enjoyable and memorable moments. It is predictable but it didn’t matter because the journey there was fun.

Fun, cheesy story

An enjoyable if predictable, short romance story. Good fun to listen to but the narrator was truly awful. What a dreadful accent. And it couldn’t even stay consistent. It did spoil my enjoyment of this. Also set in England, with English characters then occasionally non English phrases which really grated eg talking of grade 1 in primary school which is not a thing.
