About this listen
Read by the author, Tracy Whitwell.
The Accidental Medium is the first audiobook in a hilarious series from Tracy Whitwell featuring Tanz, the accidental medium who, with the help of the dead, is about to become an unwilling crime-solver.
'Spooky and hilarious and brimming with oddball characters, I love this book!' – Mandasue Heller
Tanz is a wine-loving, straight-talking, once-successful TV actress from Gateshead, whose career has shrivelled like an antique walnut. She is still grieving for her friend Frank, who died in a car crash three years ago, and she has to find a normal job in London to fund her cocktail habit. When she starts work in a ‘new age’ shop, Tanz suddenly discovers that the voices she’s hearing in her head are real, not the first signs of madness, and that she can give people ‘messages’ from beyond the grave. Alarmed, she confronts her little mam and discovers she is from a long line of psychic mediums.
Despite an exciting new avenue of life opening up to Tanz, darkness isn’t far away and all too soon there’s murder in the air . . .

Loved it!
I was chuffed to hear the author reading her own work. I’m from the NE too and she made me laugh so much. Great book, now on to the Gin Palace! … x

loved this book , not my usual listen ( normally something far darker with a fair amount of serial killer content) but after meeting the author i felt compelled to buy this audiobook and i was far from disappointed, it's just great fun , the narration was just brilliant too I love a full cast production but this worked great with the author telling the tale , please can we have more ??

Very enjoyable ...
Humorous, warm, well-read and a quirky page-turner towards the end! (Or rather, an addictive listen on audible...)

Absolutely superb performance and story
I loved this book from the very first sentence and it only got better. The narration is amazing and I can honestly say it’s one of the best books I’ve ever list ened to, I’ve immediately bought the second in the series.
Tracy, you are wonderful as an author and narrator, I left the book feeling Tanz was my best friend and I knew her well.
What a great character Sheila was too, Milo, Frank, everyone, I can’t wait to start listening to the next one.

Great Fun
This is one of the freshest books I've read in ages. The story was just the right side of weird and conveyed a sense of the occult without spooking us out. It's really the kind of occult that drinks tea and biscuits rather than bat's blood.
And who would have thought that pairing detecting with palm reading would be such an interesting combination?
The characters were amusing and the plot a riot.
The narration was good from the author Tracy Whitwell which shouldn't be surprising as she's an actress. But it was a bit too shouty in places.

Totally entertaining!
I really liked this listen. Picked up on a 2 for 1 offer, just to see if I liked the writing. I will be looking out for the next in the series. I also like it when the author reads their own material and Tracy Whitwell made this interesting and fun.
