Brilliant story, brilliant narrator

This is absolutely one of my favourite LitRPG stories. Keep 'em coming! I listen to them all 3-4 times.

Hood book but pretty slow

The voice actor is amazing but the story feels like it would be shorter and I think that it and the 10:th book would be in the same book

Fairly standard

Not as much character interactions here. The dwarves are all over the place. Other than Jackson occasionally Joe never speaks to humans. I don't think Aten or his mother have any relevance anymore as they aren't even mentioned.

Most of this book is Joe talking to himself. Coming up with rituals and then solving ritual-based problems.

The scenario of the world seems flawed too. It's based off a tower defence game but considering world 1 was a 2 faction war this scenario felt very gamified and fake. I think Krout wrote himself into a corner with the ritu-architect class. A character who specialises in construction has to be static and far from the front lines.

It was easy listening and the narrator did great but, yet again, I'm unsure whether this series has anything to make it worth continuing with.

I love the story, but the narration takes the cake

I listened to the series so far and grew to love the story. It is worth the listen and i am waiting for the next book in the series.

I absolutely love this author. His books are such fun to listen to. Love the characters and settings. They will not win noble prizes for literature but i don’t care.

Sidequest

I am a fan of the series, however this story feels like it was stretched only to fill one extra book. The whole story could be compressed to a third of his length and be much more interesting. The whole "dwarfs dont trus me suddenly" after all he did and was doing makes no sense to me.
I hope it doesn't end up to be another series whit to many books released only because it is popular. (like Astorians chronicles). For me it starts to feel like it is more about dwarfs than about main character.

Another outstanding book

I love this series and have to say I really like the path this series and this book has taken. ***Spoilers****(sort of) The additional world building mechanisms like karmic luck that are not yet explained because Joe hasn't met a Karmic race yet are really interesting. The use of the message system to underline the reputation system and the damage that could be caused due to your standing with a faction because of who and what your mail contains was a superb addition, like a WW1 period drama. Safe to say, the Dwarfs are trying to teach the humans they are no longer short-lived (not a dwarf joke) and can slow down and start to look at the long game. I am looking forward to the next book to be a slower build that's focused on creating a foundation for the city that can weather anything. Joe is still as scatter brained and forgetful as usual but still as funny and crazy as a bag of angry squirrels. But seriously Joe, get a damn reminder system or notebook in your life. The only thing that had me stumped was the fact they don't use Ice in the building of the wall or Joe using the ice/frost aspect as a target in his rituals. Such a simple solution to the frost exuding monsters.
In short.... a brilliant addition to the series and narration outstanding as always

Slightly better than the previous two books

This book had a few things that made it more enjoyable than the previous two books which I didn't enjoy that much. Firstly the main legion dwarves were both dialled down in their annoying jock/ bro dialog and were not interacted with as much as the previous books. This made me happy as this was one of the most annoying things about the recent series. Secondly it has some town build and tower defence aspects. I do like both. Though, it was at a insane pace like a speed run. No time to saviour either.

This isn't a return to the heights of the first few books where Joe was actually trying to complete everything, find hidden classes and trainers, etc. I think he needs his guild to make an appearance soon because Joe and the series is missing capable team mates who bring different skills and expertise to the table. Havoc is great (the only dwarf I like, Cleave is pretty close) doesn't have much book time which was a real shame.
