OMG!

My heart was having palpitations throughout this audiobook!

From beginning to end it was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, The twists, the turns and the backflips, the storyline was just amazing.
The characters, the sad past history of the detective, and how his life was/is intertwined with the web of deceit, lies and half-truths.

Lots of red herrings and cliffhanger moments and excellently narrated by Antony Ferguson.
This is the first time I have heard this narrator, and all I can say is “outstanding performance!”.

NRW definitely does not disappoint in this novel and especially if you are LGBTQ I A+, you were really enjoy this audiobook.

Definitely worth 5🌟‘s across the board!

Fantastic murder mystery

Another great story by N.R. Walker. I was kept on edge the whole time, and while I suspected a certain person was the killer, I couldn’t have guessed the reality. August finally getting the closure he needed was the cherry on top.

Wow, an Amazing audiobook

I simply got immersed in this audiobook and didn't surface until I finished it. Even though it's a long book, I listened to it straight.

The two main characters, August Shaw and Jacob Porter, are entirely different but work together well. August is a jaded older character with a traumatic past, no friends or family and no work colleagues that will talk to him. He works cold cases for the Australian Police.
Young Jacob is a Senior Constable for a local Town Police station, has an amazing family, work colleagues and a great social life.
When these two meet to try and solve a murder/suicide, they discover they have a few more crimes in common and start to unravel murders from decades ago.

I love the research that NR Walker does for her books, from simple things from the murders, to how forensics work, coverups, and how the police force operates. She never skips on the details, which makes her books for me. So much hard work makes the reading so much more satisfying.

Antony Ferguson is new to me narrator, but he did a clean and concise job narrating. But as usual, I sped up the audio to 1.25.

Great book

I really loved this book. I liked the main characters and their slow burn romance. I also enjoyed the murder mystery. It kept me guessing about who was involved in the murders. I thought the narration was very good as well.

The edge of the genre

At last a story line that’s original, no hockey players, no basketball, no closeted jocks just good old gay romance in a thriller setting. Learn the let you so called creative authors

Gripping, well-written, well-narrated.

This was a fantastic book. N.R Walker's in-depth plotting and characterizations brought the story to life and had me on the edge of my seat for 10 hrs! Her portrayal of the systematic corruption in the police department and the cover-up of the murders of young gay men was heart-breaking, anger-inducing, and sadly, all too real. I was behind Detective August Shaw 110% and felt his bone-deep frustration at being given short shrift for so many years in his cold case investigations.

I would love to listen to more of N.R Walker's work in audio, but unfortunately, Joel Leslie does most of her books and I just cannot listen to his narration, so I won't buy those books.

I was very impressed with the narrator for Tallowwood, Antony Ferguson. He coped well with giving the characters slight Australian twangs without making a mockery of the accent and in turn dumbing down the serious topic. Bravo! Well done!

Great story

To be honest, my first impression of the English/Australian accents left me a little unsure of how it would work, being a book set in Australia. But it actually really worked and they differentiated the dialogue/narration well. The story was fantastic and well worth the listen.
