Summary

Resigned to living a sexless, loveless life, Doctor Nathan Tierney knows something is missing. In a rash decision, he leaves his life-consuming job at Mass General Hospital, Boston, to be the small-town doctor in Belfast, Maine. With the job comes a house, and with the house comes a handyman-painter.

Trent Jamieson, a nomadic artist, and his dog Bentley, are offered free accommodation for the few weeks he fixes up the hospital-owned house. Nathan is transfixed by this free-spirited, undeniably gorgeous man.

Confused but amazed to feel any kind of attraction - much less to a man - Nathan convinces himself to put aside any preconceived ideas, and allows himself to just feel. As their attraction for each other grows, one man learns to live, the other learns to love. But just who is teaching who?

Excellent Novel.

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book, which made me have enough temptation to buy it. The only issue I have found with American authors, is that they use Christian names for character's which are the exact opposite on this side of the pond. As a result of this, I have over sixty books in my library which I cannot read. I've tried a couple but had to give up on these as the genre wasn't right for myself! Lauren Blackely is the worst for this! Yes, she is selling books and bringing in the money at the expense of readers whom have been duped by the names used! Audible have a part to play in this! I feel that they could code books in a far better fashion! I need to speak with someone at Audible on another matter. Hopefully they will be able to do something for me on all the misleading books by Lauren Blakely, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask! I get so angry 😠 At this author I don't feel physically sick at the fact that Amazon and Audible let authors such as her away with this! As I said, better links to such books would be appreciated. You enter LGBT and up she pops!!!

At the beginning of this book, I thought that I was going to be disappointed, very disappointed! But I thought read on! Like some films, it may take some time to warm up! This was indeed the case. I am not going to say anything about the contents of the novel, nor the storyline as I feel this is unfair for other readers. I was once given a gift of a novel, "Jonathan Livingston Seagulll". I was advised to read this book carefully as in the storyline I would find a pattern for my life! I commenced the novel with this in my mind. The result was that I could not read the book and have recommended it to friend's who thoroughly enjoyed it. I even went as far as buying the DVD, the soundtrack having been written by John Carpenter. I still couldn't get anything from the film version which I would recommend! Even if just for John Carpenter's an amazing work on the musical soundtrack!! The inscription in the book, said that I should stop limiting myself which I have a bad habit of doing, even when I surpass this limit I've set. Anyway, give" Learning to Feel " a chance and do read it.

The narrator's were in my opinion excellent at their role in putting this across to listeners. They kept it at a level which I enjoyed and feel was this novel's requirement! It's not a novel for narrator's to rush or tell at to fast a pace, which wa just right on this occasion! Well done!!

A story of love

Love has it's ups and downs and this story has it all romantic, love and a great dog that pulls it all together and a family that accepts their son and his boyfriend. The narrator is great which always makes it more interesting.

Enjoyable book

I really enjoyed this book and I was drawn into the story and the characters, and felt invested in them. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was because there were several “tell” moments instead of “show”. Didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment too much, though.

Very disappointing

Too much sex and very little story. I think if you removed the sex you would be left with about 2 chapters
I like many of this author’s books, and hope next one is better. Not giving up yet.
Good narration although a bit too sickly sweet
Why do so many books have to have an epilogue these days?
