Summary

A missing woman. A husband suspected.

The truth will … Take Your Breath Away

It’s always the husband, isn’t it?

When his wife Brie vanishes from their home one night, never to be seen again, people assume Andy got away with murder. The police can’t build a case against him, but still his friends and neighbours abandon him.

Six years later, Andy’s life is back on track, and he’s settled with a new girlfriend. And when he hears his old house has been bulldozed and rebuilt, he’s not bothered. Things are good.

But then one day, a woman who looks like Brie shows up at their old address, screaming ‘Where’s my house? What happened to my house?’ before vanishing as quickly as she appeared.

And as dark suspicions resurface, Andy’s future depends on discovering what the hell is going on. The trick is staying alive long enough to find out…

A.I generated narration?

I feel a lot of old ground from different Linwood Barclay books was rehashed.
The first time I have been disappointed in one of his books...and the narration was awful.

Poor performance lets down good story

Decent story let down by one of the female narrators. Very robotic. Feel that Siri (other assistants are available) would have done a far better job! Truly atrocious narration!

Good listen despite women narrators

Certainly one of Linwood Barclay's better books but the women narrators let it down. Their voices were not very animated, one of them leaning to sing-song. A pity. Ako Mitchell was good.

Another great story by Linwood

My only criticism is there are far too many “he said, she said”. Just needs a proper edit before being recorded.

A THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE READ.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book to listen to. Quite a few surprises along the way, with a satisfying though unexpected ending. I’ll try another novel from this author.

Gosh

As usual we were kept guessing until the very end. A great read, and something resonated about how life can take unexpected and sometimes devastating turns. We all need to consider if honesty is always the best policy - haha!

great writer, great book

Book was great as usual from Linwood Barclay. The (especially the female ones) narrators were a letdown. One sounded more like a robotic voice, that was a bit of a turnoff.

Great book, shame about the female narrator

fantastic story once you get used to the synthetic sounding narrator worth perseving with it

Another superb Linwood Barclay story!

Superb story, only let down by Julia Locascio, the main female narrator....totally wooden, robotic and read like a 5 year old. The others were very good, so managed to stick with it. If was just her narrating the whole book, I probably would have given up on it, and horror of horrors, read it myself!
