Summary
How is it fair that Jane, miraculous healer and lightning-slinging badass, gets all pukey at the sight of blood?
Taking a job in an emergency room for magical agents might not be the best fit, but if Jane agrees to work for the Man for a couple of months, it will give her mentor the time he desperately needs to bounce back from losing his powers, his girlfriend, his job, and his right arm. So Jane puts her dreams of personal liberty in a full nelson, dusts off her magical powers, and gets ready to step under Big Brother’s thumb.
Surprise! Her corporate responsibilities include a side assignment, too. Investigating the murder of a teenaged necromancer, Jane is stuck playing Watson for the most obnoxious agent on staff.
Of course, he uses his Sherlock Holmesian powers of deduction to throw a match on the gasoline-soaked house of cards that is Jane’s life by pointing out that she’s, well, about six months pregnant. Since Jane’s the first person with powers to get knocked up in recorded history, suddenly everyone is suuuuper interested in her for all the wrong reasons.
As the net continues to close, Jane’s not the only one inside. Her newly not-possessed mentor is up to his neck in a web of golemancy, sabotage, freelance psychos, and traitors. How can Jane, mildly nauseous and completely out of her depth, stay alive long enough to catch a killer, save her mentor, and plan an epic escape from the most powerful magical corporation in the world on the side?
Words of Power is an urban fantasy adventure with a hearty helping of Sumerian, Arthurian, and modern mythologies, and a double dose of inclusive romance. Fans of Quentin Tarantino, Tamsyn Muir, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer will enjoy the cheeky writing, simmering romance, and technicolor brawls.

OMG you have to listen to this book.
Hold on to your butts, because the world is about to get a whole lot bigger. This book is the third in the series and doesn't just build on the same formula. Rather than gloss over things, Suicide Kings really delves into the messy aftermath of that which has come before. The characters continue to grow, to change, to evolve, and the interplay between them continues to be one of the shining gems of the series. A newer treat is the expanded nature of the setting and lore. We start learning details about things that have been hinted at since the very beginning. Loved this one, and can't wait to read the next one. Also kudos to the narrator. She does an amazing job of delivering the lines and making the characters unique and distinct.

meh.
Story categories should actually be correct. This one is listed as a Mystery, Suspense & Thriller. Mystery? like Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys but with adolescent sex. Thriller & Suspense? like Perry Mason or the Rockford files but with adolescent sex.

best book of the trilogy
Dahl and Lovecraft are much more likable than Jame and Ian. I wish the narrator didn't give Blue and Meghan such annoying voices.

A solid conclusion
So overall it was a nice wrap up (mostly) of things, there are some loose threads to perhaps spin another tale with the characters but it feels like a nice wrap up of a main arc.
There is what felt like a meander in the middle, almost like, "is anything going to happen?" but when it finally comes to a head and starts to hit the fan? you can see where all the little hints and foreshadowing from earlier come to let you understand the climax.
There were times people were dumb, but it was a dumb that for their flaws so it made sense. Overall it feels bittersweet because I'm sad it's over. Not sure if the author has done/will do more in this setting but still happy I got to experience it.
Performer was solid as with the first two books.

Not my cup of tea
I could not make it to the first 10 minutes of the book. The narrator in the whole story sounds horrible. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Boring Series
I basically listened to these 3 books because they were free. I don’t think I’ve written a bad audiobook review. Generally they are ok enough. This was the most boring set of books. The story was all over the place. What happened to the chick at the beginning of the book in Janes story? Book 3 I could not for the life of me tell who was speaking Doll or Everest, voices were identical. The climax if the whole 2nd and 3rd book. Predictable boring. Sigh. It served its purpose but I was zoned out just waiting for something interesting to happen. What was the whole point of the game show host guy part? I just…

nice stories
nice stories only issue is you should have done a bit more research you talk about pagers and block buster which means your books place in 80's or 90's
but when you talk about Fremont st you mention performers in circles but Fremont circles on have been around about 5 years or so they weren't around in the 80's or 90's

great story
It was a great story, but a little too much intimate detail of two guys relationship. I mean a lot of detail. I'm a live and let live kind of person. I don't care what makes you happy. I just really don't care to hear EVERY detail. I pretty much feel that way about heterosexual relationships as well. If I wanted to hear porn I wouldn't be listening to audible. But great story, really. :)

If you enjoy gay romance...
Chelsea Stephens did a very good job reading this, I recommend her for her character control.
The story started out (in the first book) very interesting and with an interesting premise. In the second book it started into a gay romance tale. I'm not sure if that is what she had originally planned or if some WOKE friend or editor suggested to make it fill in with current political feelings.
By this book we had a full blown gay romance which took the book on another course. I had a hard time finishing and set it aside, but came back to reread to make sure that my assumptions were correct.
