Didn't finish due to narrator
The story line looked interesting. However the excessive amount of swearing and more importantly the poor performance of the narrator made me return the book.
The narrator ends almost every sentence with an irritating lowering of intonation. Also the tone is way to exaggerated apart from when the characters are talking.

Pretty good
I really enjoyed the story over all and I'm thinking I might get the next one. With any luck the steal dragon will have gotten over her arrogance by then.
I know it's a perfectly normal response to finding out you're bullet proof but bloody hell she was cocky!
I also turned down my listening speed from 1.5 to 1 as the narrator's voice was making my eardrums vibrate.

Good start
I must admit, I did struggle at first with this book - I thought Kristen was a mega whiny brat who never listened to anyone and did what she felt was best when she came into her dragon powers. She felt invincible and refused to let anyone help her. However, I persevered and thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Kristen Hall has not long finished at the police academy and is surprised to find out she's been sent to SWAT - something that doesn't happen to rookies. There's a lot of resentment from her team mates, and it's made even worse when she finds out she's the steel dragon.
Kristen has to grow up fast and learn to rely on others to help her rather than her running in to save the day.
Plenty of action in this book and is well narrated by Emily Beresford.

I love the story but hate the MC
the story was pretty great the concept is original and interesting however I cant stand the main character, she kind of comes off as maybe a 14 year old in her way of thinking, I'm not sure if this was by design or not because she is supposed to be an infant by dragon standing.she isextremely over confident with nothing really backing it. even coming to refer to herself by the media title given to her instead of her name. she comes of as extremely entitled and in spite of growing up in a cop family, wanting to go in law enforcement and having completed her training she kinda just throws that training aside when it suits her and at on point she completely ignores her commanders orders, nearly got her entire team killed and barely gets reprimanded and does truely see that she was in the wrong.

Story is weak and predictable, narration is decent
it's a struggle to listen because the characters are a bit wooden and prone to unrealistic decisions. The story overall became a predictable tell all and ignores "the show don't tell" guidelines of exciting story telling. There are also places where a backstory pops out of nowhere and does not make sense. Since when did "Wonderboy" explicitly hate Dragons until the middle of the story? The MC doesn't make sense and feels like a different character after every arc.

apparently the author doesn't do basic research
The story is hard to listen to when weapons and technologies completely based on real life involving no magic do not follow basic science/physics that most people know. I don't have too many problems with suspension of disbelief. but when you use current real-life tech and it doesn't work the way it does in real life it annoys me greatly.
if you were going to make something a plot essential weakness. you could at least read Wikipedia first. there's a very old concept that we use to protect electronics from electricity and electromagnetic interference. it's called the a Faraday cage/shielding. now that exact same principle is used in high voltage protection suits. how this is accomplished is using metal wire mesh or solid metal to conduct electricity safely around the outside of the object to the ground. if your skin turn to metal the exact same principle would apply. it would make you immune to any attacks involving electricity or electromagnetic interference. The only thing you would really have to worry about is getting too hot from the amount of electricity passing through your skin.
The worst part of this is high voltage performance art using one of these suits (they're pretty much chain mail or shark mail that covers your entire body) was on broadcast television(I think it was one of those talent shows my parents used to go on about) at least once in America in the last 6 years. the different YouTube videos showing this affect and performance have hundreds of millions of views. with so much exposure and information on this and this is not something you can write off as the average lame and not knowing. if my mom can notice that doesn't make sense. You've got a problem she can't pass high school science.(as a kid she was sent to Catholic school and they didn't teach science they just said pray to pass the test) well at least whatever they were teaching 10 years ago when I was in school. I also asked some friends that have no real science or technical aptitude and they also thought that metal skin would protect you from electricity and when I asked why one specifically mentioned that seeing one of those performances.
I know people don't understand magnets very well. which is why I didn't have a much of problem(an annoyed comment but that's about it) with using magnets as a weapon. although I should give you a hard time over it considering a magnet that has a pulling force of 100 lb at 1" has a pulling force of 50 lb at 2". just like radiation magnets also follow the inverse square law.

Don't bother listening
Grand Standing, racial comments, government bashing, whiney main charecter, repetitive phrasing and choppy story shifts. Don't bother listening. This is too long of a book which could have easily been three books and more time taken to develop the storyline. Fictional writing is suppose to be fiction and not fiction with a axe to grind. The narrator should read strong female leads and not a petulant adult child who whined ALL the time. She did well with the material she was given. Note: I have not been so so perturbed/angry with a book in a long time. I'm sure there are people who would be hard-core fans of this book, however, I see the story as a way to show the middle finger to those the authors don't like.

Typical, but great story idea
"Typical" means for Michael Anderle, there was an utterly ill fitting and quality detracting bad choice of words, yet systematically similar to The Kurtherian Gambit in poor language, and more offensively so. Emily's voice characterizations are thoroughly well done, but somehow not a great match for the main character and one or two others. I am sure this is why some have commented on her repetitive sounding voices after hearing her narrate other books.
