Summary

Once Upon a Time,
There was a king who passed.
He left behind two sons,
one beloved and one outcast.
The older of the two was set to take the throne,
but before he could, he had to find a queen to call his own.
The younger one was known to be unruly and unhinged.
The chosen queen was warned to keep far away from him.
Beautiful and cunning, in the light is where she stayed.
But late at night, it was the shadowed lands in which she played.
Mistakes were made and secrets forged;
forgetting duty and her sense.
And while the new king had her hand,
her heart belonged to the scarred prince.

Scarred is a dark royal romance. It is not a retelling, and it is not fantasy. It has mature situations and themes which may be considered triggers for some. Listener discretion is advised.

DNF

As much as I was looking forward to listening this I’m afraid I just couldn’t finish it . The narration spoiled the listening , it’s not often I have a problem with narrators.

Lion King

Great story. Cept me on my toes with twisting of the plot..
Spice 4/5
4/5 on performance because the male narrator is a little to old sounding and the female narrator a little to young sounding.. Voices too lite and too dark.

Sexy

This was a wonderful romp! I love this twisted tales. I think this one has been my favorite of the series...so far. Tristan is dark, mysterious and wicked enough to keep you on your toes. Sara B is strong and feisty and I loved her from the beginning. They are fire together...and the build up to them finally giving in was so steamy!! I really enjoyed this book. The narrators do a fantastic job!

morally gray?

being nice to 2 people is not good enough to get you to gray. most of the characters in this book are just black. that being said if you like a love story where 2 messed up people end up together and you feel relieved that no one else will have to end up with them then it's all good. they do have chemistry and the people they are up against are not even good enough to be morally gray so you are okay if they come out on top.

Heavy on the smut light on the story line.

I liked this book well enough but I did find the story somewhat weak I feel like the other concentrated a little more on the heated moments more than the storyline and the follow-through with certain characters, all in all not a bad read.

Fantasy at its best!

Characters in this story are mischievous and scrumptious! Some dark scenes with a sexy burn. Kings and a Queen with an evil twist. A protective ALPHA brother to the king, who falls in love unwillingly. A love and hate story skillfully written. This is a fairly new author for me. I will definitely be adding her to my list of authors I follow.

Cringy

This author likes picking super young sounding female narrators and pairing them with extremely old sounding male narrators. When the female narrator reads the age gap of all characters involved sounds passable. When the male he makes the woman should 12 and the men sound 65. Its creepy. At least in "Hooked" there was a good enough story line to ignore what seems to be a trend in these books. Fingers crossed the next book is different but I am definitely returning this title.

a dark reframe of the Lion King

It's not a retelling, but definitely used that story to frame this one. But oh so much more darkly. I loved the romances between several characters and how the author hinted about Michael's reasons for going bad. the performances were excellent as well.

AMAZING!!! *Spoilers*

I cannot even explain to you how good this book is. I thought Hooked was my favorite book? No, Scarred is so, so much better! The Lion King was so brilliant of an idea, and the references to the movie are everywhere. I really enjoyed Michaels death scene at the end. Remember how in the movie, when Mufasa was hanging from the cliff? And Scar says “Long live the king” and pushes him off? Well in Scarred Tristan says “I would say, long live the king, but that wouldn’t be true.” The thought process that McIntire had to go through to come up with lines like that must’ve been very hard😂. It’s things like that for me, the little details.

To be honest, though, I wasn’t a big fan of Sara. She was just a regular old character that I never really got attached to. Plus my focus was mainly on Tristan🥵. The tattoos, along with his jet-black hair and rings got to me.

All in all it was a FANTASTIC READ! Read it in three sittings. Can’t wait to read Wretched and then Twisted in 2023!
