Summary

They say life is a bowl of cherries. Unfortunately, Daisy kept getting the pits.

Escaping from deranged cyborgs and a malcontent artificial intelligence had been the run of Daisy’s life, but one from which she had miraculously come out the other side, and in one piece, no less. Unfortunately for her, she had survived that ordeal only to find herself in a far deeper mess.

With an even more dangerous turn of events throwing her in harm’s way, Daisy’s original plight was now dwarfed by the new issues at hand. Issues involving not only her crew mates and herself, but threats on a global level. Earth was in jeopardy, and much as she hated to admit it, Daisy, it seemed, was its best hope.

Driven into action and forced to rely not only on her own wits but also the voice in her head and tirelessly watching her back, Daisy found her newfound skills tested to their limits and quite nearly to their breaking point.

Unfortunately for her adversaries, they didn’t know just who it was they were pushing around, because Daisy was most definitely not to be trifled with. She was the woman who pushed back.

Continued surprises

I recieved a review copy of this book. The story continues to be excellent and has an entirely different focus to the last one with Daisy spending the first half of the story on the moon, coming to terms with her situation. The second half sees her return to action as more twists are revealed.

What a fun story and series!

Pushing Daisy
The Clockwork Chimera, Book 2
By: Scott Baron
Narrated by: Vivienne Leheny
Series: The Clockwork Chimera, Book 2
This is such a fun series! I read the first book and started the ebook of this one but decided to buy the audible book so my mom can listen to it too! She is almost 90 but still loves books! I got her hooked on sci-fi and fantasy about 5 years ago. 😁
I love the characters, the bots, the world building, plot, the humor and wit! It is very original and just a joy to listen to!
The narration was perfect! Loved it! Can't wait to get the money for the next book in the series!

Another win for Scott Baron

Well I hit the part in the charlie series which forced me over to this series. I like magic better so while I'm not quite as enamored this far with daisy's story, the quality is just as great and perhaps even slightly better!! Another win for Scott Baron on my book!! Thanks again Scott.

This sequel is a lot better than the first book

Daisy is constructed to save the world but is only human. I believe this is why you find yourself rooting for as well as being annoyed with the main character actions. It was challenging to root for Daisy torwards the middle of the first book due to her actions. This sequel book fixes that, as you find yourself rooting for her more instead of rolling your eyes.
I overall liked this book a lot more than the first, and certainly looking forward to the next.

Page turner for sure

Scott and Vivienne do it again with this installment. Scott’s writing helps to pull details that’s important and Vivienne provides the voice of the characters and does a wonderful job. I love the fact that the characters are growing and the action is out of this world. Great job

A lot of stage setting, but still a great listen

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

TLDR; The biggest question for the second book is, does it hold up to the first? This one does, it's just as much fun as the first one.

The sequel has a lot of stage setting, the author is getting all the pieces in place for the next book. That said it's not a boring list by any means, just that it doesn't wrap up everything. There are some new characters, new tech, and some twists, everything you want in your Sci-Fi.

Overall, the sequel doesn't let you down, you get to stay on the same great ride.

I’m invested!

Book 1 was good but Book 2 was even better! I find it to be a very enjoyable listen. Narrator is great. Lots of adventure and twists. Some problems get solved but now there’s new challenges to conquer and I’m fully invested in this series. Already starting book 3.

plot convenience after plot convenience, but still very fun

Let's be real for a second: the author uses the neurostim as an Ex Machina over and over, and because of that he has turned Daisy into a certified Mary Sue that can speak any language fix any issue and stop any foe. With that critique out of the way, this is a very fun series. The Chithid are awesome and most of the crew are well rounded. They make very human mistakes and react accordingly. Some
of it is nonsensical but it rarely takes away from the story. I can't wait to read the next one. I have to admit though, I don't like the narrator all that much. Her range is from husky to slightly less husky, and a lot of her line delivery comes across as either condescending and overly snarky. The story would benefit from someone
