About this listen
Award-winning author William Kent Krueger has gained an immense fan base for his Cork O’Connor series. In Ordinary Grace, Krueger looks back to 1961 to tell the story of Frank Drum, a boy on the cusp of manhood. A typical 13-year-old with a strong, loving family, Frank is devastated when a tragedy forces him to face the unthinkable - and to take on a maturity beyond his years.

Stick with it….worth the wait.
A meandering tale of a family in the sixties in Minnesota. Stick with it as even when nothing in particular is happening, the story takes you along , promising a great last third of the book. It is actually a graceful read. The word grace is very apt

Beautiful literature.
I loved Ordinary Grace. It was exactly that. A book about the ordinary grace of a human experience of life. Beautiful writing, and the narration was perfect for the feel of the book.

Beautifully written
I liked the weave of the story, it felt genuine, believable and well thought, not fake or forced. The characters were interesting to the end, I was still wondering about their lives for a couple days after I had finished the book.

Lovely small town snapshot
One summer, one town, many mysteries and adventures. Beautifully narrated story of one young boy’s experience of tragedies, mistakes and growing up in a complex small town in the early sixties.

Rich and absorbing
I found this novel slow to gather momentum but worth the journey. A notable and slightly amusing characteristic was that it relied heavily on the eavesdropping habit of Frank, otherwise the reader would not be privy to important facts they needed to know. This tool was a necessity in a book written in the first person.
The characters are well developed and rounded, helped by the excellent narration of Rich Orlow, whose voices were distinct to the point of easy recognition of a character before the narration identifies who has spoken. The reader is kept spinning along by the desire to know who, why, how. I really bonded with Frank, Jake and Ariel, and cared what became of them.
Enjoyable and absorbing.

Best audible for quite some time
I really loved this. Good story well narrated. Really engaging narrator and well drawn characters. I think if you enjoyed 'Crawdads' you'll like this as it's in a similar vein.
