Summary
For 18 years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows - her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.
Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm’s way. It has always been easy - until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time Mia and Zach leave the house, she worries about them. On a hot summer’s night her worst fears are realized. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget... or the courage to forgive.Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

Like a cheesy teenage soap drama
I loved The Great Alone by the same author so have been binge reading her other novels for the last 3 months. Unfortunately I found this book to be utter drivel like a bad soap opera.

Night Road
Too predictable, repetitive, sugary, sentimental. I kept wanting to say ‘I’ve got the message’, too long. A disappointment as I normally enjoy Kirsten Hannah’s books.

Heartbreaking
Heartbreakingly beautiful… had me hooked from the start. Emotional, sad, real and brilliantly performed. Thoroughly enjoyed this emotional roller coaster

Yuk
What a load of teen love angst and drama
.
I really had not expected this drivel, as the previous books I have read listened to by Kristin Hannah were excellent.
Narration was twee and gooey.

Enjoyable
I am a fan of Kirsten Hannah’s books. This was good, but no way at the same level of some of her deep engrossing reads.
I didn’t believe the ending - such a shame.

Full of power and emotion
An excellent book about a mother’s grief. And whilst it was a story it was more about one woman’s loss and the grief, trials and tribulations surrounding it. I am sure those who have suffered a similar loss will completely identify with the story.

Loved it !
I really enjoyed this story. I have tried loads of the recommended "Tear Jerkers" But not a tear in sight for me, not even a very slightly blurry eye, absolutely nothing. But much to my surprise "Night Road" Had me trying to hold back sobs and hiding behind tissues, yawns and sudden attacks of having to blow my nose, trying not to let anyone see.
Really worth listening to.

Stick with it
The first third of the book was very teenage oriented, I thought I was listening to a book for young adults. I stopped for a few weeks, but then decided to give it another go. It was worth it, the remaining two thirds are more engaging for adults and I really enjoyed.
