Summary

The Grey sisters had only each other when their mother died years ago. Their father provided for them physically on Water's Edge, the ranch that had been in their family for three generations, each of them however, longed for their father's love.

Winona, the oldest, knew early on that she could never get it. An overweight dreamer and reader, she didn't exhibit the kinds of talents and strengths her father valued.

Vivi Anne, the youngest, had those things. And it was Vivi Anne who only ever saw a glimmer of their father's approval.

When Vivi Anne makes a fateful decision to follow her heart, rather than take the route of a dutiful daughter, events are set in motion that will test the love and loyalties of the Grey sisters.

With breathtaking pace and penetrating insight, Kristin Hannah's True Colors is a novel about sisters, vengeance, rivalry, betrayal - and ultimately, what it truly means to be a family.

Another brilliant story from Kristin Hannah

I loved the story I had tears at the end, had to keep walking to finish it.

Not her best effort

Corny and predictable. The characters were rather typecast and the romantic liaisons weren't convincing. I wasn't keen on the narrator and her very nasal version of men's voices.

Slow Burner. Worth it.

Great story. Narration on the whole good, but the female narrator didn't really nail the men's voices.

It felt pretty glum initially but the second half was very uplifting.

The father, the head of the family I found rather strange and quite mute. An odd character that never endeared. All in all, an excellent listen.

Moving and honest

I enjoyed the different perspectives from which the story was told. I welcome the inclusion of uncomfortable elements, such as the miscarriage of Justice that seems to be so commonly applied to people of colour in the US, difficukt fajiky dynajics, unhealthy coping strategies, and the stigma about not being a skinny woman. I cried at the end, but I won't spoil it ny sharing share why!

A great title!

Yet again, Kristin Hannah produces a most fantastic read. A most beautifully written story of romance, justice and most of all family bonds.

Heartfelt story of love and loss; exceptionally written

Brilliantly written novel full of moreish moments with highs and lows. The relationships between characters is the most important part of this book much like Kristin’s other books. To read this is to feel you’ve been on a journey with the family.
