About this listen

Today is the day that Evan Berry's life will change forever. His days working construction are about to end; he is finally going to be a high school music teacher. Stephanie, his bride-to-be, even has a surprise planned for him when he gets home from work that first night. None of that matters. For several days, the news has been hinting at reports of a strange illness that appears to be global. Unfortunately, this is no regular sickness. The dead are returning to life and attacking the living. Evan is at his new job for less than 10 minutes when he gets a call from Stephanie. There is a man in their house and he is trying to attack her.

Set in the world of the Amazon best-selling series Dead, there is a new story to tell. See the world die through the eyes of one man in Dead: Onset.

This is the first audible book that I have ever listened to and I loved it. I am a fan of The Dead Series by T.W.Brown and listening to him narrate this series is brilliant. I look forward to hearing more.

Loved this book

I have read and listened to hundreds of zombie books and completed the original Dead series and is a firm favorite of mine so much so I stayed away from this series until I was left with lots of unfinished books what I liked about this book was it wasn't fancy characters saving the world one survivor at a time it is simple, ordinary yet addictive and leaves you wanting the next installment to see what happens next I feel this works as it's well written and delivered just right, in terms of narratation I have listened to authors narrate themselves before and been left underwhelmed however TW Brown's performance is 10/10 and I have already downloaded book 2.

Nothing fancy but makes you want more

After the end of the last series I was not sure what to expect but this new story was different enough not to be just a follow up but a new look from a different perspective.
Really well read by the Author who tells the story as it was written ( unlike some narrators) and really let's you feel what the lead character feels.
would definitely recommend that you give this a go even if the first series didn't grab you. Good all-round effort Mr Brown, looking forward to part 2.

not sure what to expect this time around?

I'm enjoying this new book, I like that he’s not as heroic as some of the other characters as being a single character story there is time to go into a lot of depth.

One star was lost as there is A LOT of talk about how it isn’t like the movies etc. etc. etc., that was Kevin’s thing, it worked for Keven, he was a geek, a thinker, a movie lover and I appreciate many people would probably have these thoughts but we cover this thoroughly in the first 12 book series and its just a bit boring to keep hearing it again from Evan, and it was regular enough for it to lose a star. The story in general is very enjoyable I just found those little comments really hard to listen to (plus I have been running/ driving a lot lately and so have binged the last 4 Dead books then these two new ones so possible I’m a bit more sensitive to it!)
Otherwise I've enjoyed the beginning again! I was just starting to get a little bored of the 'beginning' every time with the 'Snapshot' series so this was needed and it’s good to know we can follow the story as far as it goes, and enjoyed the little crossovers like meeting Steve at Book 1 of original Dead series point!

Glad its not all over

I liked the characters and enjoyed the book. Will be looking for the sequel as I want to know what happens to our hero. and his dog! the narration wasn't for me as I wasn't keen on the voices. but it didn't detract from the book. I'd recommend it.

Enjoyable enough to look for the sequel
