Summary
In 100 percent of criminal trials, someone, if not everyone, tells lies.
If it wasn’t for liars, there wouldn’t be trials.
When a defendant swears "to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth", most judges and barristers believe their evidence will be "nothing like the truth".
Who can blame them? During years of exposure to a daily diet of murder and mayhem, lies, and liars, they’ve heard it all before.
In Nothing Like the Truth, Nigel Lithman, QC, provides an entertaining and irreverent insight into life in the criminal courts as barrister, QC, and Crown Court judge. Using his experience in true crime, he mixes tales of horror with humor and questions whether it is possible for defendants to get a fair trial.

Enjoyable although little in depth analysis
An easy listen, well narrated from a modest and experienced member of the bar and judiciary. However, would have liked a little more depth about some of the cases he was involved in - as all sound fascinating.

great listen - sense of humour dryer than the base of a dominos pizza
very amusing and interesting at the very same time. I've read a few books on the legal profession, and it's one of if not the best

A rollicking good ride
Thoroughly enjoyed this. So glad to have bought it as an audiobook as Nigel narrates it so brilliantly.

A ponce being poncey. Out of touch, self-indulgent
A ponce being poncey. Out of touch and self-indulgent. Couldn't finish. A shame as judges are so integral to our justice system

Interesting and humourous
I really enjoyed this, was thinking it may be overly serious given the title. But Nigel Lithman QC made it both interesting and added humour to what could be seen as a dry subject.
Highly recommended.

clear, eloquant, insightful
speaks clearly-you can hear that he was a barrister. you can also hear the movement of his jowels when he speaks.
humour is bone dry and intelligent, and occasionally goes over your head. he also does has a notes section that references all the previous cases he's mentioned-saves you some detective work when you inwvitably google them-thanks judge!
