Summary
Meet the true face of British justice.
Nazir Afzal knows a thing or two about justice. As a Chief Prosecutor, it was his job to make sure the most complex, violent and harrowing crimes made it to court and that their perpetrators were convicted. From the Rochdale sex ring to the earliest prosecutions for honour killing and modern slavery, Nazir was at the forefront of the British legal system for decades.
But his story begins in Birmingham, in the '60s, as a young boy facing racist violence and the tragic death of a young family member - and it’s this that sets him on the path to his groundbreaking career and which enables him to help communities that the conventional justice system ignores, giving a voice to the voiceless.
A memoir of struggle and survival, as well as crime and punishment, The Prosecutor is both a searing insight into the justice system and a powerful story of one man’s pursuit of the truth.

Best book I’ve ever read
After being too busy to read, listening to an audio book seemed like a good way to start again. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but I LOVED it. It’s safe to say that this is the best book I’ve ever read, and I’m sure I’ll listen to it again! With every case he describes, you’re able to picture it vividly in your mind, and become aware of issues you might not have considered before.

An admirable account
Loved this book. I don't read many autobiographical works, but I am so glad to have read this. It's an inspirational story, tackling difficult subject matter directly and sensitively.
I loved the author's reading, which was done with feeling. It added to the story. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Brilliant!
I can't recommend this book highly enough. Some of the content is hard to hear, but it's important to know the reality of the continued injustices taking place in this country.

An absolute pioneer in legal precedents
Such a enlightening and heartfelt account of Nazir’s journey through the Crown Prosecution sector, remarkable accounts of his work to make changes in law for exceptional circumstances and getting real change and justice for the voiceless. He gives his accounts with so much humility.
