Summary

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days gets a millennial makeover in this romantic comedy by USA Today best-selling author Andie J. Christopher.

"The way Jack sets out to win Hannah back is really the stuff of true romance." (NPR)

Jack Nolan is a gentleman, a journalist, and unlucky in love. His viral success has pigeon-holed him as the how-to guy for a buzzy, internet media company instead of covering hard-hitting politics. Fed up with his fluffy articles and the app-based dating scene as well, he strikes a deal with his boss to write a final pièce de résistance: "How to Lose a Girl". Easier said than done when the girl he meets is Hannah Mayfield, and he's not sure he wants her to dump him.

Hannah is an extremely successful event planner who's focused on climbing the career ladder. Her firm is one of the most prestigious in the city, and she's determined to secure her next promotion. But Hannah has a bit of an image problem. She needs to show her boss that she has range, including planning dreaded, romantic weddings. Enter Jack. He’s the perfect man to date for a couple weeks to prove to her boss that she’s not scared of feelings.

Before Jack and Hannah know it, their fake relationship starts to feel all too real - and neither of them can stand to lose each other.

Really bad

Couldn't finish so bad and cliche. Didn't enjoy the performance or like any of the characters.

Fun Premise, Good Characters. Monolgues Hurt Pace.

I really wanted to like this, as it was recommended by a favorite author. This has a good premise and characters. But I couldn't finish the audiobook because the characters would revisit their inner angst over and over, and it just slowed down the pace until I finally had to stop listening. When there was dialogue, it was interesting, sometimes funny, so I stuck with it through 15 chapters. If I had the book, I probably would have liked it more, since I could just skip the repetitive parts.

One other note - at the beginning of the audiobook, the author does an introduction about why they wrote the book. I personally don't want to know what the author was trying to do until AFTER I've heard it for myself. I like to travel the journey, then discuss it. If you are like that, you may want to skip the author's intro.

Dupe of how to lose a guy in 10 days with some added sex scenes

So it’s basically just a re-write of the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 days.. with more sex. Entirely predictable. This is a story we’ve all heard before.

Disappointing

Really didn’t like the heroine. The lack of self-worth was really disturbing. As a Black mother to a biracial daughter I didn’t like the message it sent. And she really didn’t seem like a good person either. Like being a mean, miserable character is attractive? The writer has talent. I just found it hard to root for an unlikeable character.

A series of missteps....

Two intelligent characters get talked into doing less than stellar things for career advancement at the risk of a relationship that may work for the two of them. I am going to point out that I couldn't stand Hannah's boss nor did I like Jack's boss. Who pushes people to do things like this? I enjoyed the story and the ups and downs that Hannah and Jack faced but I thought the 2 weeks lasted a bit long. I tried to get into liking Hannah but I just couldn't and that has never happened to me. And maybe that is because I know people like her... but... I stopped caring if she was going to get out of her own way.

Meh

Story could’ve been better. It dragged on a bit. I see where the author was going but jeez it took a long time to get there. Cute quarantine listen though.

Slow Start to a Great Book!

This was a great book! At first, I didn't think I was going to like this book because the first few chapters were kind of slow. At one point, I wanted to put the book down fir good, but I'm glad I made myself stick it out. once I got past what both of them had to do to keep their jobs and made it ro there second date ( meeting Jack's mom), I was all in. From that point on, I was caught up. I was talking to the characters and grasping with excitement during some of their encounters. I was slick sad and mad at Hanna when they broke up! Having ro struggle through thre first few chapters u.s definitely worth it!
