Summary

How do you stop the unstoppable?

A supernatural entity that has been imprisoned in the Earth for millennia is released in a small town. It quickly spreads, leaving a trail of blood and carnage in its wake. Harlan is the local sheriff, and he is in a race against time to save the woman he loves, his town, and the rest of the world from this horrifying evil.

More than Evil is a relentless story with a different kind of monster. It manages to feel both fresh and familiar at the same time. If you like high-octane action and nearly unkillable creatures, then you've come to the right place.

This audiobook features a 3D soundscape filled with music and effects. Richardson is a film and TV producer and uses his years of experience to make this audiobook feel like a movie for your ears. Horror is the perfect genre for this kind of rich sound design but rarely gets it. The atmosphere created by this treatment takes an already great story and elevates it to a whole new level.

"Fast moving.... Wholly original.... Features a setting and atmosphere and that might have been plucked from the horror greats of the 70s and 80s." (Publishers Weekly/Booklife)

"I was hooked. Miraculous story." (Amy Shannon, Bookshelf Reviews)

"Bil Richardson has a style that cuts to the chase, with ever increasing pace and a labyrinth of surprises. Highly recommended." (Reader's Favorite)

"Richardson has a flair.... Definitely going to keep this author on my radar." (Manhattan Book Review)

A wonderful, sheer horror experience.

Bil Richardson was kind enough to send me an audio copy of 'More than Evil', his terrific horror novel for review.

All hell breaks loose when an evil supernatural entity that has been imprisoned in the Earth for ages, is released in a small town.

This evil force is unleashed to ravage, destroy and decimate all things that sum up to a town and ultimately the world.
Harlan, the town's sheriff takes matters in his hands in order to rid the world of this unspeakable evil, saving the woman he loves and his town.

What follows, is knuckle whitening, sheer horror, that provides a splendid audio experience as the audiobook features a 3D soundscape packed with music and effects and narrated by Sky Soleil who does an amazing job on keeping an ideal pace and puts the listener right in the middle of the action.
Richardson's years of experience as a film and TV producer, really elevate this audiobook to the levels of a supreme blockbuster movie happening in your ears.

The story is intense and flows as the body count increases chapter by chapter until the very satisfying end of this horror delight that will keep you nailed on your seat.

A fantastic horror experience of a book, the way I love it. A fun and dark read that does not hold back on the creepy, bloody factor. A captivating story in every possible way and especially one you have to experience as the quality of this audiobook is truly amazing.

Not my usual cup of tea, but a fun listen.

As a bonus gift from the Lovecraft ezine I had no expectations going in to this.
After finishing it I have to say it’s the kind of thing I would have liked 20 years ago. To be clear, this is a reflection of my own tastes changing - looking for more complexity/ambiguity and more rounded/relatable characters. This is not to say that the writing is dated: it isn’t, I expect it would appeal to a younger audience between 29-30. (That sounds patronising and now I feel old)

The approach to characters is reminiscent of Kings early work; you’re given the key information about them to drive their behaviours and motives for the plot. This makes for a pacey tale, that after a few pointers of things to come, gets going and doesn’t let up.

The narration was very good; clear and well read for all the characters, and it built up the tension effectively. The effects were well produced and nicely balanced; enough to add to the atmosphere without taking you out of the story. The sound production overall was solid all the way through.

In summary; not my usual cup of tea, but a fun listen - thanks Mike Davis and Bill Richardson.
