Summary
The last time I saw Cade Whitley, I was the curvy, nerdy girl who tutored him in math. He was the popular boy who only saw me as a friend. Now, he’s the CEO of the competition.
The second we meet again, we start pushing each other’s buttons…then end up flirting.
But that has to be a fluke, right? After all, the only things we have in common are a love for the coffee industry and affection for his matchmaking grandmother.X
At least, that’s what I think.
In high school, I had a crush on him. And it was completely unrequited. I don’t want history repeating itself.
Then, he kisses me in his office, making my head spin. This is dangerous. He could break my heart again. My boss could find out.

Matchmaker Grandmother
Grandmother is playing matchmaker again this time with Cade and Meredith. They knew each other in high school but didn't stay in touch. Now they are in the same business. When they meet again, they are attracted to each other. I liked this story and the low agnst in it. I'm looking forward to the next book that was teased at the end. Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor were great narrators.

Wonderful story
I loved Matchmaking the Rival by Layla Hagen so much and getting to see another Whitley brother fall in love. Cade and Meredith were so wonderful together and their friendship just made their relationship even more deeper. Cade’s romantic gestures had me swooning and Meredith’s thoughtfulness had me adoring her even more. I loved how much confidence she embodied and her zest for life had me smiling. Loved seeing Grandmother Jeannie do her matchmaking thing and seeing the obvious love the Whitley brothers had for her despite her meddling. Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor did a great job narrating this audiobook and bringing Cade and Meredith’s love story to life. They captured each character’s personality perfectly without missing a beat. Once again author Layla Hagen delivers a heartwarming love story with heat, humor, witty dialogue and a wonderful family dynamic that she’s a master at in all her family series. Looking forward to reading the next Whitley brother story in this series.

Another Layla Hagen gem here!
I am so in love with these brothers! And Grandmother Whitley… she’s a true gem! Even though she’s not hiding her matchmaking attempts from any of them!! I adore this character!!
This time it’s Cade’s turn!!! And the woman Jeanie has in mind for him will make you love her too!!
Layla Hagen has a way with characters who are down to earth and real. That’s what makes her books favorites for me. I am so glad I found her catalog! I’m having so much fun catching up as well as reading and listening to new ones! You keep writing… and I’ll keep devouring!!!
And… Spencer is next!!!!
Jacob Morgan is one of my favorite male narrators and he does an excellent job here as well! I love his voice.
Samantha Brentmoor is a new name for me, but her voice is very pleasant and her characters are very well differentiated. I will listen to her again!!

In love with the Whitley brothers!
This is the second book in the new series by Layla Hagen following 5 Whitley brothers and 3 half brothers and I am here for all of it! I love this family that was introduced in Matchmaking the CEO with Jake Whitley. This book gives us the story of Cade, who is the CEO of the coffee company the Whitley family owns. Their adorable Grandmother is at it again with her well-meaning matchmaking and this time she reconnects Cade with a high school friend, Meredith. This is not really a second-chance romance story even though Meredith did have a huge crush on Cade in high school, but more of a "should I get involved with the competition" kind of trope. Meredith has recently been promoted to VP of Marketing at a boutique, high-end coffee company that is a competitor in a competition for fair-trade coffee brands along with Cade's company.
Grandmother somehow knows that Meredith is perfect for Cade and works her matchmaking magic and brings these two coffee lovers together. The banter game is next level in this book both between the main characters and between the brothers and I can't get enough of it. This book is full of humor, family bonding, plenty of romance and steam, with very little or no angst, and a satisfying HEA.
Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor are brilliant together and their incredible talent is on full display with all 8 of the brothers and half-brothers having distinct and discernible voices which is not an easy task. I was engaged by their performances from the very start and I am hoping they will be back again for the next installment in this series. You can bet I will be listening to the whole series as soon as each book is released.
