I swear I didn’t mean to flirt with the world-famous Brayden Clarke - especially not right in the middle of an interview for a job. It was a slip - or, perhaps, a gut reaction to his smoldering eyes and deep, sexy voice. To my total disbelief, they give me the assignment. My task is simple: advise Brayden and his band on how to communicate with their fans.

Story
It all starts as pretend. To everyone else, Hunter is the most powerful man in New York. Respected by his associates and feared by his competitors. But to me? He's just my best friend. my sexy-as-hell best friend. It was easy to agree to help him fake a romance. After all, who knows him like I do? Convincing his tight-knit family takes a little more: An unexpected kiss that makes my skin sizzle, my knees go weak. Before I know it, our banter turns to flirting and Hunter's hell-bent on charming me. On our first night together, we barely keep our hands off each other.

Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? Landon Connor is a man of many talents - all business magazines agree on that. My family calls me a workaholic, but being driven and career-focused is what turned me into a hotshot CEO. I have good reasons for keeping my personal life on hold. Then Maddie Jennings walks into my life and makes me question all my choices. Maddie says she hasn't met anyone like me before, and hopes she never will again. Good. Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

I didn’t mean to see him naked - it was an accident. It had to be, right? Because Noah McCormick and I have never been anything more than friends. Until I walked in on him getting out of the shower and saw his hard, muscular body totally bare and dripping wet. At that moment I never wanted to mess with anything so badly in my entire life. He’s made it clear he’s not interested in romance. Which is fine with me because I’ve got a plane ticket back to my real life at the end of the week. It’s all in fun...or is it?

Steamy, Emotional, and Heartwarming!
- By Jocelyne on 06-05-22
Summary
As a divorced single father, I live by three rules:
- Make sure every day my daughter, Paisley, knows she’s number one in my life. No matter what.
- Keep contact with my cheating ex-wife to a minimum.
- Turn Maxwell Wineries into a legacy that keeps Paisley set for life.
When I hire Lexi to look after my daughter, I realize I need another rule: Don’t pursue Paisley’s nanny.
But even if I had that rule it wouldn’t matter. Because I'm breaking it already.

Wow! Tate & Lexi’s Sweet & Sexy Story ...
Wow! Tate & Lexi’s Sweet & Sexy Story Is Infused With A Keen Sense Of Family & Loyalty. They Sizzle In This Single Dad & Nanny Romance. The Maxwell Family Is Vibrant & Alive With History & Controversy – Watch For More To Come!
This is the first book in a new series about the Maxwell family of Chicago. The legendary Maxwell family is known for the famous bookstores they once owned. Ten years ago, those stores were sold off as the next generation went off to pursue their own dreams. Though each of the Maxwell kids received a trust fund from the proceeds of the sale, their sense of hard work kept them from becoming lazy.
ABOUT THE MAXWELL FAMILY:
Emmett and Lena Maxwell are enjoying their retirement now, but they worked hard as they raised their six boys. Beatrice, Emmett’s mother, had lost her husband years earlier, and she stepped in to help with the task of raising the children. Still, family dinner was always an important event for the entire family. Emmett’s younger brother had worked for the family business as well. Though retired in London now, he had turned to work to nurse his broken heart after his wife died, frequently traveling abroad. In his absence, his two daughters were left with Emmett and Lena as they grew up, adding to their large household. The family is very tight-knit. There is plenty of ribbing, but there is also an abundance of love and support.
Declan is the oldest Maxwell brother. He has a take-charge personality and a practical approach to life. He is a successful attorney.
Luke is second in birth order. He is Declan’s opposite, always trying to cause trouble. He enjoys being a ringleader in his efforts to sow chaos. Luke is closest in age to their cousins, Kimberly and Reese. He owns his own company.
Tate is the third oldest. Like Declan, his mother considered him a “trusted general.” He developed a love of wine as he grew up – something that he and his father had bonded over. Today he is CEO of Maxwell Wineries, headquartered in Chicago. He is skilled as a businessman, but his people skills, in general, aren’t as sharp. He is the single dad of nine-year-old Paisley, a badge he wears with honors, but it comes with scars.
Tyler comes next, and he lives for hockey. He plays goalie for the Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blades. He has summers off but is busy much of the rest of the year. He enjoys getting rowdy and believes in trying everything once.
Sam is sometimes quieter than his brothers, but he has a rowdy side as well. He works abroad for Doctors Without Borders.
Travis is fearless and independent. He is celebrating the success of his startup, seeing all his hard work finally pay off. His personal life takes a backseat to work; he hasn’t had time for anything more than one-night-stands for the past three years. He sometimes gets into trouble, but he is also there to offer a helping hand when needed.
Four of the brothers keep offices in the same downtown Chicago building, making it easy to grab a drink together after work. Sam and Tyler travel for work but visit whenever they can.
Kimberly, their cousin, lives overseas.
Reese, Kimberly’s sister, lives in Chicago and is nursing a broken heart. She always enjoyed spending time in the family bookstores growing up and is happy to begin working in their only remaining bookstore – the flagship store that started it all. Their Gran had kept the solitary store for sentimental reasons.
IN THIS BOOK:
Tate Maxwell, thirty-four, is the CEO of Maxwell Wineries. The company is his passion, but his daughter Paisley will always be his number one priority. He got married just over ten years ago right after college. He was young and naïve, believed he and Nora were in love, but he eventually discovered that had all been an illusion. Nora had given birth to Paisley almost ten years ago, but modeling had been her true love. Tate was left to raise Paisley alone, and though there might be no love lost, the failure of his marriage weighs on him. He wants the world for his daughter, and he punishes himself for the fact that she barely has a mother, save for one or two visits each year. As the summertime nannies come and go over the years, he realizes he needs something more stable for Paisley for the daytime house while he is at work – a female figure that can serve as a constant in her life. He turns to an agency to help find the perfect nanny – one that can continue on beyond the end of summer break.
Lexi Langley, thirty-one, has a golden rule: never date parents. She teaches fourth grade and loves her job – working with kids is a pleasure. She enjoys spending time by the lake on her summers off, but this year is different. Her parents back in Boston live on a modest income, her mother a school teacher and her father a carpenter. With her mother’s medical bills piling up, Lexi is determined to do all she can to help out. Towards that end, she hopes to find a summer job this year. When she gets sent to interview for a nanny position, she ends up pleasantly surprised in more ways than one. The job looks promising and the little girl she would be working with is adorable. Moreover, her potential employer is captivating – and if not mistaken, he seems to have eyes for her, too. She really needs the job, but she knows instinctively that her golden rule is in real danger in Mr. Maxwell’s presence.
Tate and Lexi can hardly hide their attraction to one another as she begins her new job as Paisley’s nanny. Still, they both try to behave. But the more time they spend together, and the more they learn about each other, the harder it is to keep Lexi’s golden rule. Tate feels something for Lexi that awakens the idea of him finding happiness once again. He has only ever dated casually, never wanting to expose Paisley to a potential breakup, but Lexi makes him want to take a chance on love again. As Lexi gets pulled into the Maxwell family, she finds a natural sense of belonging. Tate’s family embraces her, but she and Tate still haven’t discussed the fact that she only committed to working until he found a more permanent replacement. Their relationship is tentative, and as the Maxwell family faces crises, the couple is tested. Tate has avoided relationships for a reason, a fact that Paisley knew going into it. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.
There are hints about future stories featuring the Maxwell family – and Tyler’s story is the next book on the docket. Tyler’s story with Kendra follows in Hold Me Forever.
Wow! This new series is off to a great start. Tate and Lexi’s sweet and sexy story is infused with a keen sense of family and loyalty. The Maxwell family is vibrant and alive with history and controversy. The introduction of this big family is a little hard to follow at times, but the above Maxwell family summary will hopefully serve as a helpful reference. There is certainly much to come, but this is a very promising start.
Tate is swoony as a single father and CEO. He, like Declan, likes to take charge. Lexi is soft, gentle, and feminine while at the same time strong and independent. They are both refreshingly no-nonsense. They are honest, and there is no over-the-top drama, just enough to spin their story and set the stage for things to come.
Little Paisley plays a part in their story, too, as Lexi fills the void in both Tate’s and Paisley’s lives. Paisley longs for a mother’s love and struggles for understanding. Unfortunately, Paisley’s sad story is only too real for some kids of divorce. It is nice to see her get a happy ending here, too.
It would be lovely to read more about Gran in the coming stories. She seems like a very strong role model, and it is always great to see grandkids doting on their grandparents so naturally. It does not feel contrived.
Tate and Lexi sizzle in this single dad and nanny romance. The Maxwell family of Chicago is introduced here; watch for more to come. Readers get immersed in the Chicago setting – downtown, the lakefront, Lincoln Park, etc. The story is wonderfully written. The plot is fairly simple as it pertains to Tate and Lexi. The story is character-driven, and there are a number of characters, each with their own stories spinning in the background. Collectively, there is a lot happening. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Tate and Lexi. I rate this book five stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

Worth the credit for sure! this one is spicy and sweet for sure! the conflict wasn't what I expected and there was more actual race to this than I expected too, so if you're looking for something sweet that still has a TON of spice, this one's for you for sure!

Live and Learn
After 100's of books this year I've learned that narrators make or break a story. In this case, sadly, it broke. The story is sweet enough - the premise of all the Maxwell brothers held a lot of promise, but the female narration made it feel like suffering. Even tried speeding it up to get thru her parts but alas it didn't help. Her 'male' version was especially bad. It's a shame because Jacob was, as always, suburb which is why I chose the book to begin with. I sometimes wonder if the authors actually listen to the narrators or pay attention to the reviews - I hope so because I'd listen to more in the series if they switch up the female. If not, these will be a no go for me.

This book was the perfect relationship. Little to no angst and everyone including the child is well spoken. This is no brooding alpha but he's just what she needs and vice versa. A little too sweet for me but a nice break from my usual brooding alpha drama Nanny Romance.

Single dad trope
Single dad trope? Yessss! Promise Me Forever was a great start to the Maxwell Brothers series, of course I love all Layla Hagen’s series that are heavily family related, so this was no surprise lol. Tate is the CEO of Maxwell Winery and a single dad to a nine year old girl Paisley who he has raised by himself as her mother begrudgingly shows less than the bare minimal attention towards her a couple times a year, preferring to advance her “career” of modeling. Tate has no time for relationships, he’s very hard on himself when it comes to his daughter, always making sure she is his number 1. Here comes Lexi! Lexi is a elementary school teacher, who takes a summer job as a nanny for Tate & Paisley as she is helping her parents with medical bills. Instantly they are attracted to each other and Paisley has taken to Lexi during the interview. As much as they are attracted to each other, they know they shouldn’t due to the circumstances, but of course that doesn’t last lol. Not only was this a cute romance between, it was very lovely to see Lexi & Paisley bond more than nanny & child. So glad Paisley got the female attention she wanted and deserved. Narrators did a great job, definitely recommend 10/10.

Promise Me Forever❤️
It was a cute love story but I felt it was a bit rushed at the end and the voice for the nine year old girl was hard to grasp. I’m hoping the next book will be better.
