Story
I am wildly successful in my career. Everyone knows Graham Frazier, soccer club owner, is a winner. In my love life? Decidedly less so. But just because I'm divorced doesn't mean I can't throw my best friend the wedding party of the year. Even if marriage is a mistake. I hadn't expected the long hours with Lori to make me wonder. Wedding planning is Lori Connor's favorite thing, a vicarious escape from her life as a single mom. I doubt she's ever had a client fluster her like I seem to.

I swear I didn’t mean to flirt with the world-famous Brayden Clarke - especially not right in the middle of an interview for a job. It was a slip - or, perhaps, a gut reaction to his smoldering eyes and deep, sexy voice. To my total disbelief, they give me the assignment. My task is simple: advise Brayden and his band on how to communicate with their fans.

I moved to Chicago six months ago, determined to finally open my own bakery. My landlady was this sweet woman who treated me like her granddaughter. Then she sold the house. Now the devil himself is my landlord and neighbor, since I live in the guesthouse on his property. Declan Maxwell is moody, unreasonable, and takes himself far too seriously. Unfortunately for me, he’s also damn sexy. Then one day I come home injured from work and he surprises me by taking care of me. And kissing me. And just like that, all my best intentions go up in smoke.

It all starts as pretend. To everyone else, Hunter is the most powerful man in New York. Respected by his associates and feared by his competitors. But to me? He's just my best friend. my sexy-as-hell best friend. It was easy to agree to help him fake a romance. After all, who knows him like I do? Convincing his tight-knit family takes a little more: An unexpected kiss that makes my skin sizzle, my knees go weak. Before I know it, our banter turns to flirting and Hunter's hell-bent on charming me. On our first night together, we barely keep our hands off each other.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace. He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had. Fast forward a decade. We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died. It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic. Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

It was supposed to be an easy article about Cain Archer. Never did I think it would lead me straight into the arms of a serial killer. When the magazine I worked for sent me to write a piece on The Elysian, and the recluse architect who created it, I didn’t know what to expect. It certainly wasn’t him. He was supposed to be cold and cruel, but to me, he was intoxicating. Magnetic. And impossible to quit. The deeper I fell, the harder it became to ignore that inner voice, screaming that darkness followed Cain.

It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents' house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. I was too young, he said. I would wait. But I'd learn that no matter what you achieve in life, it means nothing if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn't matter. My older sister saw him next.

The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around. I can't risk my job for a chance at something more, can I? But I don't know how to resist him much longer either.

Simon is one beautiful man
- By Kindle Customer on 30-08-17
Summary
Landon Connor is a man of many talents - all business magazines agree on that. My family calls me a workaholic, but being driven and career-focused is what turned me into a hotshot CEO. I have good reasons for keeping my personal life on hold.
Then Maddie Jennings walks into my life and makes me question all my choices.
Maddie says she hasn't met anyone like me before, and hopes she never will again. Good. I can't stand the thought of anyone else getting the reactions I do out of her when I boss her around, when I stand just a little too close.
Pretending to ignore the way I make her feel is becoming her full-time job.
I'm not ignoring anything about her, from her curves to the sweetness in her smile. She's all I see, and everything I want.
Maddie can't help giving in to my romantic overtures and the intoxicating feeling when we touch. But even as our passion grows, I can't help but wonder-can I prove I'm ready to open my heart for longer than a summer?

Why so many high ratings?!
This book was a real drag. Two boring people meet, a relationship ensues, nothing really happens, the sex is boring because there’s no chemistry, and both claim to not want a deep relationship but even their internal monologue from the start contradicts that. Their backstory really should mean that you FEEL a bit more for them, and your heart go out to them, but you just don’t. I just got distracted and struggled to finish the book.

Faultless narration by two of my favourite narrators!

Totally awesome!!!
I loved this book. This was my first experience with Layla Hagen and I am a fan. The story was well developed along with all the characters. Although you can sort of see where the story goes (although, once you read a few romance novels, you should anyway), it's definitely worth the listen.
The basis for this story is about a single girl recovering from heart ache but well passed the initial hurt. She's independent and self sufficient. The guy is recovering from his own heart ache in losing his wife to illness. He is also at a point where he's open to finding love again, although a bit hesitant. This story doesn't really focus on the previous relationships. It's really more of a gloss over and it focuses on who they are now and moving forward as a couple. Their work is an overlay but not really a major part of the story. The story is simply sweet.
The book also includes various support characters that have been setup for their own stories. The ending will leave no doubt has to who's story is told in book 2. The good thing about them though is that you are just as invested in their stories as you are with Landon and Maddie.
As always, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt are amazing and the perfect voices for these characters. There are a few skipping issues but nothing that causes the story to be less impactfull.

Move over Bennetts, the Connors are in town
I adored the Bennett Family series, like thousands of other people, and I’m sure we all had the same fears and questions when it came to the end of its run. What now? How can we ever move on? Will this Connor family be able to make us feel the way the Bennetts did? Layla is a genius. The Connors are a wonderful family, they have a totally different dynamic than what the Bennetts had, and it works so well. The way the siblings interacted was pure brilliance. This could have gone one of two ways, it could have been the Bennetts rehashed, or it could stand on its own originality, and it’s the latter. This series feels new and fresh and I am so excited to spend more time with the Connor Clan! I listened to this book in one sitting, once I started I just couldn’t pull myself away from this story and these characters. Layla writes characters you want to know about, you want to spend time with, and her writing flows so beautifully that it just immerses you into their world.
Landon and Maddie are so sweet together. From early on you must know they’re a match made in reader heaven. The way they interacted and came to terms with their feelings was sweet and beautiful. No major conflicts to drag out and make us question their feelings. It was obvious. Landon is such a swoony sweetheart, I fell for him early on. He’s not had it easy, raising his younger siblings and then losing his wife - but, he doesn’t close himself off, he embraces his feelings for Maddie, even if they weren’t what he planned. Maddie is such a wonderful character, I adored her. She’s making a name for herself in a tough business, all while helping her sister finance college and although she doesn’t have the need for a man, and doesn’t want to get hurt again, she’s still open to a relationship with Landon. Rh chemistry between them was palpable and the steam level, well, lets just say Landon isn’t all sweetness *wink* The other Connors are awesome, I can’t wait to get to know them some more. The next book is out soon, right?
Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are a powerhouse. They always deliver when they perform, and when they’re paired up, you know it’s going to be magic. This book is no different, I thought Sebastian embodied Landon, he was just the perfect voice for this character. Andi was brilliant as Maddie. They both bring so much emotion to the characters and the change of tone and inflection really gives each character a unique voice. The production was fine with no issues I noted.

Swoon, oh Mr. Connor
Landon & Maddie are absolutely beautiful together! I really love the Bennett Family series (cousins) and can’t wait to get to know more about the Connors! Landon & Maddie both experienced heartbreak in the past, for different reasons, but they got their chance at their true happily ever after. It was a sweet book, focused on their family, work, and their growing feelings/relationship with each other. There wasn’t really any drama, which I typically like at least a little of in a story, but I found myself being completely fine without one. Sometimes you just need a sweet book. Narrators did a great job, definitely would recommend, 10/10.

Absolutely love Anything for You!
Layla did it again! I loved the entire Bennett family, but I think I love the Connor family even more and have changed my mind and want to be a part of the Connor family instead. I couldn't put this book down until I had finished it!
The Connor family is so close with each other, but then again you would be too, if you lost your parents and all you really had to rely on was each other.
Landon and Maddie were both in pain from their past loves and neither thought the other could love again. But like an amazing love story, just when you think you can't get past the hurts, someone amazing comes into your life to make you fall in love all over again.
Landon is the alpha male, oldest brother, and protective man. All around swoon worthy. He has been in a hard place over the last 4 years due to the passing of his wife. And he gave up on having the amazing life that he had always dreamed of and seen his cousins from San Francisco have.
Maddie is an independent woman who has a hard time trusting anyone after what happened with her ex. And I can completely understand where she is coming from. But she is also adorable and needs to let someone help her every once in a while too.
The story is very relatable and so easy to listen to. It just sucks you in until you get to the very last second of the audio.
I love this story! Sebastian and Andi are excellent narrators and make the story even better.
And of course, I can't wait for the rest of the Connor family to have their own books and stories as well.

Excellent Narration
I love these two narrators together! They are of course incredible separately, but together they're magic!
Now, the story....
I didn't like Maddy. She was cold and made teasing remarks at the wrong time. I found her completely unlikable. I tried, I really did, but she was just too stale of a character for me. She was also one of those kind of characters where she thought everything inside her head, then spoke out something different. Listening to Maddy was kind of like this:
Landon: "Do you like my shirt?"
Maddie *thinking* I really love that shirt on him. it defines his hard chest and shows off those muscled forearms. I want to tangle my fingers into the buttons and rip it off his body. I can already hear the buttons pinging off the walls.....
Landon: "Maddie? Did I say something wrong?"
Maddie: *continues to think* ....He's so thoughtful. I love how all his focus is on me. We just fit so well together. ..... *Maddie finally answers*: "That shirt is alright."
Poor Landon. Even when he's professing his undying love she makes a cold, teasing comment in return.
Ah, well. I wanted to love this book, and I did love the low level of angst (which is why I was excited for this) but the main character just didn't mesh with me.

Absolutely Beautiful
This was a really beautiful story, sweet, funny with really no drama and swoon-worthy.
A story about two people with borken hearts for different reasons that will have to learn to open themselves again and trust in each other allowing themselves to fall in love again and find their HEA.
Landon's family's amazing, how supportive of each other they are and I can't wait for their stories too.
The narrattion was really great. It's my first time listening to both narrattors and they did an amazing job bringing the story to life.
