Summary

He tried to escape. But something followed.

After a grueling trial, Alex Roth had reached the University of Generasi and learned much about the Mark of the Fool and how to exploit it for new paths of power.

Making friends and training in alchemy, all seemed to be going well.

But shadows stir.

The dark secrets of his homeland haunt him. His sister—Selina—learns that she is what she hates most. And unfriendly, monstrous eyes track him.

As he tries to live a normal life, he must risk danger to uncover dark secrets, survive the wrath of those that call upon demons, and avoid the gaze of a hunter from an ancient enemy....

And that is when the murders begin.

Oh, and he still has to make sure he can pay tuition.

In book two of the best-selling series, continue your fantastical journey into a coming-of-age magic academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world building and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

Enjoyable listen

I have enjoyed listening to the second book and have the 3rd ready to go. I'm trying to decide if I should listen to that next or break it up by another book as I don't want the story to end (is this a trilogy or will there be more I wonder).

I am pleasantly surprised when a book hasn't got over the top romance and isn't spoilt by page filler 53X. I also love a book that can make me have a chuckle or two. This book is spot on.

If you enjoy this genre, I thoroughly recommend!

Amazing narration!

The overall storyline has gripped me more than most books I've have ever listen to or read before. Definitely worth the credits or money if you liked the previous one or are looking for a more interesting spin on the medieval fantasy genre.

An Excellent Story With Fantastic Narration

The story's extremely well written with events set up well in advance, not always obviously, and every thing that is set up pays off.
The characters are realistic, likeable, rational, and just plain fun.
The narration is amazing; the characters lifelike and the voice engaging.

Still really good.

My only gripe is the BOOM! CRASH! BANG! stuff... it's a bit much. I almost feel bad for Travis having to narrate all that.

Story is good though and fairly unique.

Great continuation

Loved the progression on the story. Also I love it when they make references to other books from the same publisher such as "Beware of chicken" which is a great book.

Great book

Tracks is great as always. Book really expanded from number 1. Looking forward to the next one to see the progression!

Uniquely refreshing

the nature of the story is unique; our hero cannot just power his way through every problem on easy mode. The use of teamwork and events in which the main character didn't dominate but had a minor role or even just as an observer was a nice change of view to most stories that have an overpowered character and everything revolves around them and their ability.
