Summary

Adam:

I might be into guys. Do you have any idea how terrifying that is? I've already run halfway across the country to get away from my abusive parents, and I really want to experiment, but I can't even hook up without scaring myself away. I might look confident on the outside, but this is tearing me apart.

Then my new roomie wins a trip for two to a gay resort in Hawaii. Darren wants to show his clueless ex that he's moved on, and I want to help out. Darren deserves way better, and faking being his boyfriend is the perfect chance to figure out my feelings. But then what do I do when the man I really want turns out to be Darren himself?

Darren:

I escaped the regret-fueled hookups with my ex when I moved out. He's not the worst guy out there, but now we're going to be at the same resort for a week, and I want to make it clear that I'm off-limits. My hotheaded, impulsive, but surprisingly sweet new roommate is willing to help with that.

While I pretend to date Adam, I can't stop imagining what it'd be like for real. I want to be more than Adam's experiment, and suddenly keeping up appearances is less important than following my heart. I'm going to have to learn to trust all over again for this to work out once this week is over, though. Can we grow strong enough to build something that lasts forever?

Live Wire is book two in the Brooklyn Boys series, where good men find their happily-ever-afters in a hectic metropolis. It has an HEA and no cliffhanger. There will be one king-sized bed, confusingly real kisses, a broken heart healing, a lot of firsts, an awkward plane trip, and the prize of a lifetime: a heart to hold safe.

One trip to love

Story: An endearing, momentarily hillarious story of self - discovery and healing, with just enough drama and angst to keep it interesting! Adam discovering his sexuality was an awesome sight to behold and his story was told with great touch of humor!
I really liked the plot of the story and the headstrong attitude the guys had toward all the hurdles!

Narration: Brilliant job! The accents and characteristics of the MCs were performed amazingly well!

so good!

I loved learning more about Adam and Darren. These two seemed so similar yet so different. There connection was beautiful to watch unfold and I'm a sucker for the fake boyfriend trope and this one was done really well with beautiful heart, just the right amount of flirt and all the stream you could want. This was my fav of the series yet and Nick has done a fantastic job narrating yet again 😍😍😍

Fantastic

A great second installment from E Davies. In my opinion E Davies has a knack to make a whole series super enjoyable. Love the fake, oops it's not fake stories. Adam and Darren were amazing characters to get to know. Nick J Russo was fantastic with the narration. Think this book can stand on its own.

Epiphanies in Hawaii

Live Wire is the second book in the Brooklyn Boys series and can easily be read as a standalone, but there are familiar faces from book one. This is a contemporary romance series with friends-to-lovers and bi-awakening tropes.

Adam has come a long way from the lost teenager back in Tennessee. He’s making his way in New York City, working for a landscaping company and figuring out his life. Darren needs to move on from his ex-boyfriend and restart his romantic life. Moving in with Adam seems like the perfect solution, but he’s still hung up on his ex-boyfriend. A surprise trip to Hawaii for the both of them is exactly what they need to come to terms with the new changes in their life and in their relationship.

This book was so entertaining. I loved Adam’s exploration of himself as he figures out who he is all the while falling in love with Darren. The writing was wonderfully done and the plot was perfectly paced. There was a lot of character growth which also led to some incredibly hot sex scenes. I enjoyed this book immensely.

Nick. J. Russo narrated this audiobook and did a great job. He kept the character voices consistent and threw in appropriate accents to really bring everyone to life. I enjoyed his performance and was instantly hooked on this audiobook.

Loved it

I enjoyed this one so much more than book one.

I adored Adam; he was sweet, brash and witty. His parents did a number on him, making him questioned his self worth.

Adam came out of his shell around Darren in Hawaii and the change in him, warmed my heart. Adam and Darren had explosive chemistry yet the moments of intimacy between them, showed them falling deeper for each other.

Darren was so patient with Adam; he didn’t judge or put him down. In fact, he made Adam feel worthy with every word, touch and kiss.

Fantastic book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrator was brilliant especially, with Adam’s accent.

Another excellent book in the series.

Time for Adam's bi-awakening.
To be honest it was strongly hinted at in the first book that Kev's roommate wasn't quite as straight as he first appeared. Here Adam gets a new roommate when Kev moves in with Charlie. It's Darren who had befriended both Kev and Charlie in the first book. Darren is a sweetheart. Adam is a mess. But when Adam agrees to be Darren's fake boyfriend on a gay cruise the sparks really do fly. This is mainly Adam's journey of exploration, which is sometimes jarring and OTT, but it's nicely balanced with Darren's sweet and caring nature.
I loved that at the point where an angsty breakup seemed imminent Davies reined his characters in and forced them to be reasonable and talk.
My only qualm in the whole audio was those dodgy British accents for those lads they meet on the cruise.

Fake boyfriends made right!

I really liked Darren and Adam, they were really good together. I loved that Darren gave Adam the confidence to finally explore his bisexuality with someone he trusted and to come to terms with how his parents had treated, or maybe I should say mistreated him all his life. And Adam helped Darren see he'd been selling himself short by hooking up with his ex Xavier for so long. They had fantastic chemistry and it was amazing seeing their relationship progress from roommates to fake boyfriends and more. They were really hot together, but more than that, listening as they fall for each other and just be together, was my favorite part.

The transition from fake boyfriends to more was really well done. Darren was understandably wary at first seeing as Adam was supposedly straight, and Adam had some false starts as he tried his new label on for size, but they talked things over and even when Adam could get moody, Darren didn't let him hide for long.

Nick J. Russo is an amazing narrator and every new book I listen him performing, just confirms it. The voices he gave the characters in this book were easy to differentiate and he conveys a lot of emotion with his performance.

Overall, I loved this audiobook, it was a lovely addition to the series!

So sweet!

I loved this series! Now in book 2, the author wrote am amazing love story with two of my favorite tropes, friends to lovers and fake boyfriends. I enjoyed a lot how Adam and Darren discovered their feelings for each other in a very sweet but funny way. Of course if you add the wonderful performance of Mr Russo with his smooth and charismatic voice, you'll get a perfect book to spend a nice time while hearing It. Simply wonderful!

Another great story and performance

E. Davies always chooses such perfect performers for all the audiobooks and Nick J. Russo's performance here is no exception. The story of Adam and Darren and their fake boyfriends adventure to Hawaii is delightful. Adam is trying to discover what his sexual orientation really is and Darren lets him figure it out. Together they are magic and Russo brings all the characters to distinctive life.
