Great reverse age gap student teacher story!
This is #1 of the Fallen Men series and so good! It is a reverse age gap student teacher relationship but beautifully told, but if this isn't your thing, don't read it! If on the other hand, you are interested but have never delved into this trope before, this is a good one with which to start!
This is my first introduction to the MC trope and I am smitten, especially if they are all like King or Kyle Garo! I just loved how he literally fell head over heals in love with Cress and wouldn't give up, no matter what. Swiftly moving onto #2!
The narration was perfect!

A fabulous read
I enjoyed this book, it’s well written and keeps you interested right to the very end. I read book two first before this one. Zeus's story is my favourite so far. King following close behind. Give this book a whirl you won’t be disappointed.

Loved reading it, loved listening to it even more!
This was my first read by Giana Darling back in 2020 and listening to it on audio now only cemented my love for this couple - and this series in general. King and Queenie. OMG, I adore these two! And Savannah Peachwood, being one of my favorite female narrators, enhanced this beautiful, forbidden love story even more.
Here's my original review, which is still very much accurate:
I'm majorly swooning over an eighteen year-old man / boy, oh boy ...
Yeah, I definitely understand what all the fuss regarding The Fallen Men by Giana Darling is about.
OMG, seriously! King & Cress totally stole my heart!

Great for a series refresh
I have previously read Lessons in Corruption on ebook so when the Audio released I was excited to have a relisten and a refresh. I have to admit I did enjoy the the story more on audio. Savannah Preachwood narrates the story portraying King & Cressida's age gap romance really well. I still felt a little lag in the story about 3/4 of the way through but it is a long book and having read the series before, I do know where it's heading.
I haven't listened to a solo narration piece in a while, so it was quite nice to get back to this kind of title and I thought it was a job well done. For any lovers of a student/teacher age gap romance with an MC baseline, this is the one for you.

Great narration and story
I absolutely love this novel and it has been one of my favorite books since I first read and to experience it now on audio is fantastic. I enjoyed the narration immensely and definitely found that it suited Cress.

Erm...
I decided to do a complete reread of this series since the latest book came out not too long ago and has dropped on audiobook recently and I want to slowly work my way through to refresh my memory before diving into that.
This is probably my least favourite of the series in all honesty and I think the crux of this books issues for me stems from the fact the author decided to make this a reverse age gap story but the FMC Cressida is actually really immature, sheltered and naive for being 26 and the MMC King is overly mature, serious and worldly for an 18 year old. Their personalities just didn't fit the reverse age gap premise at all, the way King acts and speaks reads SO much older, his mannerisms and entire being just don't fit that of the younger one in the dynamic whereas Cressida does, her inner monologue and actual dialogue at times is childish and cringe worthy... I swear if she had called herself Kings "rough and tumble queen" one more time I may have thrown up in my mouth, that line in and of itself sounds like something a preteen/early teen would think when having their first crush on the bad boy. I also forgot how much King uses the words "babe" & "yeah" in this book, it is SO OFTEN they stopped sounding like real words to me.
Other than that this is a good introduction to the Fallen Men world, there is a bit of action, decent spice & we are introduced to some of the other brothers who have books later down the line and foundations are laid for future plotlines too. Having read this series before it was nice seeing some of my favourite MMCs from future books appear and make a start on revisiting this series. In all honesty this will probably be the last time I reread this particular book from this series as it just doesn't work for me, I wish the audiobook was duel and we had a male narrator alongside the female one as as much as I like the female narrator and her work I don't feel her male voice fits in this story as it sounds much older than Kings character is meant to. If this was rerecorded in the future with a male narrator it could make a world of difference to the audiobook experience of it. 🌶🌶
