Summary

Doctor Turnbull had estimated that Kyle's mother had six months to live - that was three months ago.

He felt guilty for playing a game as she suffered back at their small excuse for a house. She had insisted and knew that it was important to her that he spend time outside of the mechanized hell where he spent 60 hours a week earning his meager pay that kept food on the table and paid the rent. She had lost so much weight and was only able to tolerate a weak broth now, so he didn’t believe it would be that long.

His mother had been the center of his life for as long as he remembered, and when she left him, he’d have no family at all. The bastard that had called himself his father had deserted them 10 years ago when he was six, and Kyle blamed him for his mother’s illness. He had no one else to accuse. He’d been her nurse and minister over the past week as she was unable to leave her sickbed without assistance, and he knew that caring for her had added discomfort to her pain.

Even as he played, he kept thinking of his future after she succumbed to the cancer but saw nothing but years of toil on the oven of the ironworks floor and an empty life with no possibilities.

Throughly enjoyed this book.

I found that this series gets better with every new book. I only listen to audible for a couple of hours before I go to sleep, and when I got to the end of the chapter I found it difficult to not go for the next chapter, since I was enjoying it that much.

Huw's Legacy

This is the third book about the Evan's. This series is excellent. This book as with the others the description of the book doesn't describe it at all. Starting out it's about Kyle's mother and etc. Then after Kyle's mother dies Kyle now know that his real father was Huw Evans. But he was killed before he was born. Kyle starts walking a thousand miles across the country to meet the Evans. This book is exciting from start to finish. Also it's about Dylan and Bryn as there lifes continue. This book was well worth the money or a credit. I enjoyed every minute of this twelve hour journey. I think Kyle is my favorite Member of the Evans. He is as important as Dylan and Bryn. I hope we here more on Kyle and Katie . Jim Meskemin did an excellent job narrating this book. He also narrated the whole series. Thank you.

confused?

story and narration we're enjoyable. only problem was the mixing of the characters names. that was confusing. I don't know if it was purposeful or typographical error but needs to be fixed.

Turned unto a sappy, predictable repeat

The first book of the series was ok, and I decided to try the second. Also just ok. The third, however, went way downhill about half way through. Turned into a seriously sappy, junior high girls romance with a few minor action scenes that rapidly turned into "Oh, hero, I feared you were dead" or "You are so amazing, how you saved everyone" scenes. It got so unrealistically sophomoric that I could not even finish listening to the audio book that I had unfortunately paid for.
There was even a strange twist wherein the hero of the book picks up a canine traveling companion for a couple chapters. But the dog inexplicably runs off one day and we never hear any further about it! Just plain odd. It seems the author wrote in the dog for spice, but decided against it later and couldn't be bothered to edit it out.
The bad guys are seriously bad, and all the family members are super good, and have incredible luck in life, love and fights. No matter their previous training or experience.
This is one of those series that should have stopped 2 books ago, or not even been tried. The author was so obviously attempting to cash in on the previously written and successful American family saga stories.
Do not waste your time, or money on this or any of the series.

Western with something very special added

It’s like reading Zane Grey or Louis L’Amour westerns with a touch of Norman Rockwell. And a hint of Blue Bloods.
I absolutely love this series.

enjoyable

you have to excuse the pronunciation of Wilkes-Barre, if you know how it's pronounced. and a few times character names were switched, I can't verify if it was written that way since I am an audio reader.
