The conclusion to the Cat and Mouse Duet is here...
The Diamond
Death walks alongside me,
But the reaper is no match for me.
I'm trapped in a world full of monsters dressed as men, and those who aren't as they seem.
They won't keep me forever.
I no longer recognize the person I've become,
And I'm fighting to find my way back to the beast who hunts me in the night.
They call me a diamond,
But they've only created an angel of death.
The Hunter
I was born a predator,
With ruthlessness ingrained in my bones.
When what's mine is stolen from me in the night,
Like a diamond hidden within a fortress,
I find that I can no longer contain the beast.
Blood will paint the ground as I tear apart this world to find her.
And bring her back to where she belongs.
No one will escape my wrath,
Especially not those who have betrayed me.
Warning: This is the second and final installment to the Duet. You must listen to Haunting Adeline first.

Not for the faint hearted
I don’t know what it says about me, but despite this being the darkest book I’ve read, I love it. Anyone who wants to listen to this needs to make sure they look at the trigger warnings because 1, they are there for a reason and 2, this is the darkest romance book I have ever seen!

What a book!
I read the first book to this duet and when I saw it was Teddy Hamilton narrating, I didn’t think twice and bought the audio book!
It’s a very heavy story and so well written and narrated. Both narrators did an amazing job representing the characters and telling the story. I felt like a fly on the wall the entire time.
Please make sure to check trigger warnings before diving into the cat and mouse duet.

Wow
This book broke me and fixed me all in one. Was an emotional rollercoaster. It’s a wee bit brutal in some things it’s not for the faint hearted but it’s an amazing story and bloody brilliant. I’m buying the hard copies just to have them!

we need "Z"!
What delightful stories both books are. I read them in quick succession and it did not disappoint me. I didn't want to take any breaks and it never got monotonous.
What I do strongly recommend to future readers are to look up the trigger warnings beforehand considering certain events in the book are realistic.
I really like the writing style and I love the story. We need a "Z" in this world. One who actually cleans up the scum and not just whistleblowers. This story does not seem to have been contrived at random and I would love to learn the thinking behind it.
The ending had me laughing again since it was coming. And the Sibby part has made me want to read Satan's Affair since Sibby has made me laugh hard enough many times and her story definitely seems worth reading.
I can't wait for more of H.D. Carlton's work!

Very dark at first but later on it got so good. I enjoyed these 2 books. The voice acting makes it so real and absolutely love the characters (not the bad ones ofc). 👍👍👍

Great narration and great end to their story !
Ok, I wasn't sure that this book was worth reading as I had mix feelings about the previous book and Adeline in particular. But, let me tell you, this book was a rainfall of emotions and I wasn't ready for it. The first 1/2 of the book we follow Adeline's captivity and all the horrors she and other women suffered, it was extreme at times, but the author was good at not detailing that part too much (there is still plenty of descriptive mom's that clenched my heart). The second half she is recovering, has ptsd and Zade is a crazy saint helping her to deal, accept herself and fish out revenge.
Zade is crazy with a capital K, but he managed to keep his obsessive, possessive , touch her and you will die personality in check and in balance in order to help Addie. Sibby from Satan's Affair is a major part of the 2nd 1/2 of the story (she made me laugh hard at times, brilliant 😂). I got to say the revenge wasn't as gruesome as I would have liked but I can live with it. All intimate moments between Adeline and Zade were explicit and full of crazy flowery feelings (sometimes too much for me).
Adeline I still dislike, especially whilst she was recovering.
All in all a great end to the duology and I hope there is another full story or, even a novella about Sibby, I really want that psycho b!atch to have a hea with a real person.
The audio book was beautifully executed and the amazing narration made the entire experience even better, so I highly recommend hybrid reading 📚

Speechless!
It took me awhile to listen to this series, because I wasn’t sure if I would like it. Now I’m floundering wondering what can top that in my next read. This series is crazy dark, and highlights a topic most of us are completely ignorant of, but happens in the world. It will give you an up close and personal view of sex trafficking. I know this book is fiction, but it’s not really, because this stuff does happen and it’s just monstrous how many evil people there are in the world. However, at the heart of everything, this is a true crazy, dark romance. It’s not perfect or even sane, but it’s love in the most primal way and I’m so sad it’s over. Now, the narration oh boy the narration by these two amazing people make this story come to life. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators, not just by his sexy voice, but he is a true artist and captures Zade so perfectly and Michelle Sparks did such an amazing job with Addie, I haven’t listened to a lot of stuff with her, but she blew me away with her acting skills and made me truly believe in what Addie went through. It’s an amazing series and I highly recommend it. Watch the triggers though because there are many and if you’ve gone through anything that has given you triggers, I’m sorry for what you went through.

⚠️ CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️ I can not stres
⚠️ CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️
I can not stress this enough! This is an extremely Dark Romance!
I am at a loss for words. This is the 2nd book in the Cat and Mouse Duet. Zade and Addie are my favorite couple!
As you should know after book one Adeline(The Diamond) has been kidnapped by the people Zade has made a career shutting down.
I have never had a issue with triggers before. But this book pushed those boundaries with the realistic and incredibly traumatic abuse Addie goes through from the human traffickers that have kidnapped her..... The hunt 😳 and so much more.
But you know Addie, she is strong! And Zade would never give up till he found her and everyone involvedis dead!

Be mindful of parto one
I loved how dark and steamy the first book was, and the conflicting morals of the main characters... so i couldn't wait to start this one.
I liked it... but the first part was really hard to get through. I get that the topics are difficult and the author paints a really vivid picture of the pain and suffering that people endure, but somehow it casted a shadow over the things I enjoyed on the first book. It got way too real and I started to look at the characters on a different light, wanting them to be more coherent and flawed... like real people.
Like, how come Z has all his stuff figured out? Why does he deliver these speaches about healing trauma when he has never experienced any? Why does Addy act like she has gained a new sense of control, only to lose it on the next scene and beg him not to leave?
Part two picks up the steamy stuff, but I couldn't enjoy it in the same way.
It was a good read, but it got too dark for me on this one.

LOVE
I absolutely adored this well written story. I didn’t feel like it was a rushed story. I didn’t feel like I didn’t get enough back story into the characters! I loved how I could picture each and every scene in this story due to how well written and descriptive the author was! Would definitely read more written by this author.
