Summary

When John Simpson hears of a bizarre animal attack in his old home town of High Moor, it stirs memories of a long forgotten horror. John knows the truth. A werewolf stalks the town once more, and on the night of the next full moon, the killing will begin again. He should know. He survived a werewolf attack in 1986, during the worst year of his life. It's 1986 and the town is gripped in terror after the mutilated corpse of a young boy is found in the woods. When Sergeant Steven Wilkinson begins an investigation, with the help of a specialist hunter, he soon realises that this is no ordinary animal attack. Werewolves are real, and the trail of bodies is just beginning, with young John and his friends smack in the middle of it. Twenty years later, John returns to High Moor. The latest attack involved one of his childhood enemies, but there's more going on than meets the eye. The consequences of his past actions, the reappearance of an old flame and a dying man who will either save or damn him, are the least of his problems. The night of the full moon is approaching and time is running out. But how can he hope to stop a werewolf, when every full moon he transforms into a bloodthirsty monster himself?

Phenomenal story with a phenomenal performance

There will always be those stories that manage to capture exactly what you love about certain creatures and for me this is one of those stories. The mystery, the problem solving, the myth mixed with reality, all of it was done amazingly. This story helped me regain my love for Werewolves. More than that the story line itself is great, characters are introduced well and built up appropriately so that they can play their role well in the story.

As for the performance, I'm Irish, so the similar accent was something I could easily adapt to, but I could understand if some others may have a harder time depending on what they're used to.

If you are reading this while contemplating should you read this story, the answer is yes.

Only decent bit of werewolf fiction in ages

I have no complaints honestly. Just gripping from beginning to end, and the ‘journal’ format with the dates and times was super cool. I can’t praise this enough

Loved it! A fantastic series!

I motored through all three books in this series and couldn't stop listening. The story is truly gripping and the characters are alive and full of personality. It's one of the only books I've listened to (other than Stephen King) that makes you laugh out loud during a tense scene from the quirky sense of humour of the characters' thoughts and the banter between each other.
I highly recommend these books and on the look out for more from this talented author.

Worst American accent ever

Story was ok, accents were pretty awful. Easy listen but not great overall - character development was patchy.

Dogman

I've loved werewolves since I was a kid and this book was absolutely brilliant. most of the time werewolves are a let down in books and movies but this book really was brilliant. narrator was amazing and being scottish myself well that was a bonus. wee side line if you love everything about werewolves search for the cryptid Dogman. you'll be surprised, it's fascinating if your interested in old lore and legends. werewolves are everywhere in them going back centuries.

Terrible accents

Enjoyed the story, but found the narrator’s attempts at multiple accents very distracting.

Part Silver Bullet, part American Werewolf, aspirations of Dog Soldiers.
