About this listen

With the Builder threat behind them, the time has finally come for Jason and his team to hit the road.

Eager to get back to the adventuring he’s been longing for, Jason is excited to not be at the center of world-changing events. But before he goes, one last attempt to pull him into politics has him leaving Rimaros with a strong final impression.

With new places to visit and new people to meet, the remnants of recent events have scarred the land and left lingering dangers behind. It's a busy time for adventurers willing and able to fight with monsters. Threats that once loomed in the background start coming to the fore, and the team prepares to join the fight. Their angelic new adversaries are patient, powerful, and remorseless, using such unconscionable strategies that mass slaughter is only the beginning.

Jason is forced to confront that his growing power may give him more in common with his foes than his friends. While this opens a path to uncovering the methods and objectives of their enemies, it also brings him to their attention. To them, this makes him yet another tool to be used. But when conflict spills into epic battle, they'll be the latest to discover that challenging Jason Asano is a very bad idea.

really invested in the story at this point and found it exciting to have the next book out however having the first two-thirds of the story be nothing but listening to Jason's therapy sessions gets tedious I'm just praying to the gods that the next book sums the therapy Jason is going to need after the ending of this one to just one chapter and gets on with the fighting and storytelling.
yes he feels bad about hurting people we get it. we don't need to hear more about it.

Great story but please stop with the therapy!

I don't know when, but at some point in the last few books, the story has changed. (As the story repeatedly states) Jason is different, more powerful, less contrary, but still a rogue. I think this story is the first one where I have fully accepted that the series is different from what I originally loved. However it is still excellent, well performed and expertly thought out.

I know if you are on book 9, you won't need a review to decide to read this book. Enjoy.

It has changed but it is still good

Started listening to this series, the last 6 weeks has kept me hooked all the way through. From laugh out loud laughter to great sorrow and all emotions in between.
Thank you so much to both the author and all that help with that side, as well as the narrator and all that team.
Look forward to the next instalment.
Thank again.

This series is amongst the greats when it comes to LitRPG

The magic system is alright but what really shines is the plot of the series.

Heath Miller also does an amazing job with his narration of the book

People have complained about a couple of problems with the audio, whilst I noticed it certainly wasn't that bad and didn't detract from the great story telling!

awesome as per usual

Another great addition to the series. As has been said before, the world building is outstanding, the characters are well written and the narrator brings it all together.
I just wish the next book was out sooner, but it will be worth the wait.

Brilliant!
