Summary
He's a troubled young actor, Hollywood's newest heartthrob, struggling with fame as the star of the latest superhero franchise. Through scandal after scandal, addiction on top of addiction, a flurry of paparazzi hunt him as he fights to conquer his demons.
She's a single mother, assistant manager at a grocery store, existing in monotony with her five-year-old daughter. Every day when she goes to work, lurid tabloids surround her, the face of a notorious bad boy haunting her from their covers.
A man and a woman, living vastly different lives, but that wasn't always the case. Once, they were just a boy and a girl who bonded over comic books and fell in love unexpectedly.
When Kennedy Garfield met Jonathan Cunningham back in high school, she knew he had all the makings of a tragic hero. With stars in his eyes, and her heart on her sleeve, the pair ran away together to follow their dreams. But dreams, sometimes, turn into nightmares.
Now, years later, the only thing they share is a daughter - one who has no idea her father plays her favorite superhero. But Jonathan is desperate to make amends, and at the top of his list is the woman who gave up everything for him and the little girl he hasn't yet met.

Best listen of 2018, so far!!
I'm a massive fan of J.M. Darhower and she didn't disappoint with this second chance romance.
This about Kennedy and Jonathan (Johnny) reconnecting after 5 years and be able to see past faults and lies to fall for each other again.
Joe Arden & Maxine Mitchell did a great job (as usual) narrating, I can't imagine anyone else being able to bring the story to life like they did and they both did a great job narrating little Maddie as well, who is just as much one of the main characters as Kennedy and Jonathan is.
This has to be my best listen of 2018 by far.

This is a story to get lost in
The story was heartbreaking, funny and touching. I was moved to tears and to laughter. The two people were so beautiful together because of rather than despite their faults while Maddy was absolutely adorable. I lived every moment of their journey with them

Emotional second chance romance
Flipping heck! A second chance romance with a punch to the heart. Such an emotional read.
JM is a new to me author and one I’m sure to read again. The narrators, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell, two of my favourites, really brought Kennedy Garfield and Jonathan Cunningham to life, they were perfect. Such an emotional read as we bounce backwards and forwards in time beginning when Jonathan and Kennedy met in their school days, to their breakup, to their reconciliation, to their fight for a future together. Battling against the odds as Johnny tries to make it in Hollywood whilst Kennedy supports him in more ways than he could ever know. Five year old Maddie was the real star of the show, just perfect. It definitely brought a tear to my eye. Loved it.

Very much enjoyed
Lovely story, the flashbacks are a little sad sometimes but I think that's a good thing and adds to the story, narrators were really good, enjoyed listening to this one!

Sad and sweet but has hea
I really struggled with the first 50% of the book. It was so depressing with her dad life, her forgotten dreams and inflated pride completely refusing his financial help despite her low income. I get that he was an ahole but wouldn't a good parent want to provide for her kid?
This is a second chance romance and we go back and forth, so it takes awhile to see the full picture of what happened and all of their issues. They work hard to overcome it all and get a hea.
I actually liked the side characters more than the main couple. Still worth a read for free on KU and catalogue plus.
Narration was excellent. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden were outstanding.

Nice story
Nice story, but I didn't like that the male memories were read by the female narrator. Very confusing.
