It's been 10 years since I've seen him. Ten years. I have no idea what he's doing, where he's been, or if he's even still single. Have I thought about him over the years? Of course. Absolutely. But that doesn't mean anything, right? Just because you think about the boy you used to be in love with doesn't mean you're still in love with him now. Does it?

"It's one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It's like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holidays missed, the birthdays passed, the memories you didn't get to make with your family...all for what? It's not like baseball lost any sleep over you."

I didn't plan on him...or for him. I didn't plan on anything that had to do with Cal Donovan from Boston. Meeting him was a complete and utter surprise, taking me completely off guard. I met new people every single day in my line of work, and none of them affected me. Isn't that just the way of things? You could meet a thousand people, and they'd all mean nothing to you, but then you'd meet that one and they suddenly meant everything.

From the second I laid eyes on Annika Leander, I wanted to help her. Protect her. Vindicate her. But she’s got baggage to get through. Hell, we both do. A funny thing happens, though, when you finally connect with someone in a different way than you ever have before. The baggage doesn’t seem so heavy. I suppose that’s really the only thing that matters when the heart gets involved.

If you knew love would hurt you, would you fall? If you knew love would leave you, would you let it go? If you knew love could never be, would you try? From best-selling author Randi Cooley Wilson comes a love story about heartbreak, second chances, and letting go. The ifs that linger in this novel will break your heart and stay with you long after the final chapter.
Summary
A good love story always begins the same way.
A chance meeting.
A sizzling look.
A flat tire.
Dani Miner could have been voted least likely to be a damsel in distress.
Tabor Hunter should have been voted most likely to do the rescuing.
So when Dani gets a flat tire on her way home one evening, she is, at first, less than thrilled to be helped out by a man that is clearly too charming for his own good. Even if he is handsome. And buff. And the king of the thousand watt smile.
However, prickly Dani is eventually charmed by her hottie knight in shining sunglasses. And a brief moment spent on the side of the road on a hot summer evening quickly leads to a first date.
But what Dani doesn't realize is that she has just agreed to go out with the very famous defensive end for the San Diego Quakes. And Tabor is thrilled to finally meet a woman who doesn't fall at his overly athletic feet. This year's most valuable player is excited to have a chance to be an ordinary guy with a less than ordinary woman.
But being a celebrity can put a real kink in your love life and Dani, a woman used to a much quieter life, is soon caught up in the high-paced world of fame and football.
Falling in love is easy. Falling in love with a sports star is another story.
Can Dani figure out how to play the game before she fumbles her chance at happiness?

Loved The Ending :-)
This is a fun contemporary sports romance with good narration, likable characters and a story that doesn't disappoint. The main characters (Dani and Tabor) are both strong characters who meet each other randomly. From the beginning, their relationship, is fun, romantic, and so sweet. The story moves along at a good pace and shows some believable relationship obstacles and concerns. I enjoyed the journey and loved the ending. Looking forward to more books by this author.
Note: This book does have a few adult language/conversations, etc....but nothing explicit.
I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for giving me this review copy in exchange for my review.

A little too much whining
Overall I enjoyed this story. Dani is a modest teacher who has a handsome stranger help her change a flat tire. She’s not a football fan, so she doesn’t recognize star pro footballer and eligible bachelor Tabor. He is attracted to her and her lack of recognition is refreshing. He chases her until they start dating. Then the constant whining begins. She doesn’t want to have them seen in public. She is shy and doesn’t want to be in the limelight. This part is very repetitive. Then when they do become public, the gossip rags bad mouth her and make up lies. Dani’s job is affected and she breaks up with Tabor. She is a very weak character and continues to whine and have pity parties. At this point, you won’t blame Tabor if he moves on. She doesn’t act as if he’s important to her or make him her priority. Then more angst occurs. Don’t want to share any spoilers. The epilogue is set about 25 years in the future. Wish she had given us a bit more resolution in the current time era. I felt some plot lines were left unresolved. I liked Tabor’s character and their banter. Overall I enjoyed the book despite the whining.

Not pink porn
If you want hot sex scenes this isn’t your book. If you want an interesting romance that deals with something that you might relate to (in a smaller, not dating a football superstar) way this is a good book. People make realistic mistakes. Both characters are both strong and flawed. I enjoyed the change of pace.

it was okay
This story was told mostly from the heroine POV. I don't usually listen to one sided but I loved sports romance. I decided to give it a try. I loved male reader more than female. Unfortunately, this was told mostly from her so it was a distraction from the story. The story was okay. There was nothing special about the characters. I didn't give this a low rating because the writing was good. The character was well developed but I'm not impressed with the story. Don't let my review deter you from listening. You should give it a try. You might like it!

Great story, amazing narrators.
Well this is my first book by TK Rapp and I loved it, Tabor and Dani story is such a sweet swoony one. He tries to hide his identity and wanting to be a normal guy for Dani who didn't have a clue of who he was made a perfect storyline. The teacher and the famous football player story evolves in a slow burn that will have you reading. Convincing Dani that he is worth fighting for will not be easy. I got the audiobook and the narrators were perfect, they showed every emotion in their words, made it so easy to get into it until the end. I will be looking forward to reading the next one.

Just No!
I tried so hard with this book! I truly tried! I don’t even know where to begin. The plot- horrible. The heroine got on my NERVES! The hero was a great guy! I just couldn’t stand her. And let’s talk about the narration...whoa! It was atrocious. Well the female narrator was. That may have something to do with how I viewed the female characters, especially the h. The male narrator was...meh. This book just didn’t do it for me. I’ve given some books some chances and found at least some merit to them. This one was a fail.
