I didn't plan on him...or for him. I didn't plan on anything that had to do with Cal Donovan from Boston. Meeting him was a complete and utter surprise, taking me completely off guard. I met new people every single day in my line of work, and none of them affected me. Isn't that just the way of things? You could meet a thousand people, and they'd all mean nothing to you, but then you'd meet that one and they suddenly meant everything.

Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? Lila Callan had an unconventional upbringing - unavoidable when your mother owns a brothel. But while she'd inherited some of her parents' 'wacky and offbeat', she was also strong, independent, and incredibly intelligent. The fact that she was tall, beautiful and blond was a bonus she never really cared to exploit. She wasn't uptight; it's just that long term was more her thing, with zero interest in one-night stands. Vaughn is everything I’m supposed to stay away from. Sexy. Cocky. And famous. You see, I grew up in a family full of wealthy celebrities. My father, Luke Williams, is the celebrity of all celebrities. And because of that, he sheltered my siblings and me from everything Hollywood. We didn’t attend premieres. We weren’t photographed. It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace. He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had. Fast forward a decade. We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died. It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic. Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

Story
What's worse than having Rider Kingston, the star quarterback, give you the big brushoff because he doesn't want to get serious? You'd probably think living across the street from him where you get a firsthand view of his hookups, right? That's what I thought. Until someone drops off a baby with a note pinned to her blanket that says one of those jocks - either Rider or one of his roommates - is the father. The problem? Baby mama doesn't mention which of these numbskulls is the sperm donor. I wouldn't care about their paternity problems - except my brother lives there too.
Summary
From New York Times best-selling author J. Sterling comes the highly anticipated story about a second chance at love.
Come fall for Cammie and Dalton as they reunite after 10 years in this emotional standalone novel - a story of a second chance that will tug at your heartstrings and leave a smile on your face.
Cammie
It's been 10 years since I've seen him. Ten years. I have no idea what he's doing, where he's been, or if he's even still single. Have I thought about him over the years? Of course. Absolutely. But that doesn't mean anything, right? Just because you think about the boy you used to be in love with doesn't mean you're still in love with him now. Does it?
Dalton
I haven't seen her in 10 years. She's the only reason I'm even coming to this reunion. If it wasn't for her, I would have stayed home. Sure, I made mistakes back in high school. Hell, I was just a kid then. But I'm here to right my wrongs, to tell her I'm sorry and win her back. She changed my whole life, and she doesn't even know it. It's time she knew.

A wonderful love story!
This book was filled with romance, comedy, and drama. It was a bit of a tear jerker at times, being somewhat reminiscent of a Nicholas Sparks novel, which is of course the highest praise. It was a modern romance, detailing encounters, so more of an adult book. I hope to hear/read more J.Sterling books. The narrators were also great adding to the quality of the story.

Awkward suspense edge to romance
This is an uplifting story a
bout getting a second chance with those crushes we all had at school. it was very cute but trying to get the bit of suspense in through the police/gang link was a bit awkward. it either needed to be further ecplored and shaped out properly or dropped.

Cutesy and Sweet
Mostly cute and sweet. A few way overly dramatic parts, but at least it was near the end.
Narrators:
Jason Clarke - 5 stars!
Erin Mallon- 3. Whenever she gets to an emotional part, her voice becomes very shaky. It's hard to listen. Also, her whispering is awkward. I wish she'd just read with her regular voice. She could easily be 5+ stars!

Cute, Sweet,HEA... but basic
I liked it. Loved the 2nd chance theme. After all, who doesn’t have a 'one that got away' story.
Love the part where the female MC was just a regular gal, not a beauty queen or highly successful man eater as so many other books have as the MC. This gal was relatable.
Loved their prom story, also relatable (my teenage alter ego thinks so anyway).
Loved the Male MC overcame diversity but wasn't some dark broody bad boy, instead he was a poor kid that through hard work and determination became class president and the weather into service... a police officer. Regular people , kinda like Blue Blood.
what I didn't like, hmmm not much. They used Jesus as a swear word several times. I actually personally like swearing, when appropriate 😅, and dropping the f-bomb or a simple d☆mn it gets the point across but I always cringe hearing the J-man being thrown about 😬.
sex was basic not much of it and no heat so you're not gonna get randy.
finally, as most HEA it was predictable but hey that's fiction for ya, right? 😉

Great Story
I really liked the story and would've given this a five star if I didn't get so annoyed everytime this girl talk. I mean, really, it's like she's crying throughout the book. It's so irritating. Otherwise, Jason Clarke did a wonderful job at narrating and the story was wonderful.

OMG!!! The repetitions!
Dear God!! The story had promise, it really did. But dear God!!! Why did we have to hear the same explanation over and over? The rehashing of events 3 times or more? We knew about her father but she had to cops in the whole thing over and over? It felt like filling space or word quota? I mean if I had to hear about all the stuff again? She’s “strong?” I almost laughed. She’s the whiniest! I wished Dalton was with her friend Kristi... Cami was just so annoying, I just couldn’t relate with her train of thought... she acted like she’s was still in high school while everyone around her grew up... very immature for an almost 30 year old woman.
I just can’t with these spineless characters who pretend to be “strong” but act anything but.
I think the story could have been better somehow IF the author picked a place to share her father’s story because repeating it over and over...? UGH
The Dalton temporary disappearance? I mean, we didn’t need to hear about it with Dalton, then her repeating play by play to Kristi then again to the mom? We didn’t forget... I don’t know if it was audited or something... I mean how many times do we have to hear, in details her restraint panic attack? I just couldn’t... I sped up the story (when it was Cami’s part) so many parts and don’t think I enjoyed the book the way it was intended... I was rolling my eyes way too many times...
If you are into sappy stories that have events repeated over and the constant retelling of the same events then this is for you. I wish I didn’t continue giving it a chance, I love romance stories but with more meat in the story not silly fluff and the constant rehashing of events...
Okay, done with complaining! I can’t believe I kept giving it a chance.. I appreciate it was included with the membership or I would have returned it.

Just ok
Not my favorite from this author but finished it nonetheless. Story was a bit slow and I felt no connection to any of the character's. spice wise, there was one sex scene which wasn't very explicit and too quick for my liking.
Mr. Clarke made this worth the listen, as always! Ms. Mallon was a little too gaspy at the end of her sentences, which is so annoying.

The bigger the love the bigger the fear of losing
Where does 10 Years Later rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
above average, for sure.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I wasn't really a fan of the narrator. Her voice seemed whiny at times especially while performing male parts. Certain enunciations seemed above par, but others could be deemed as downright annoying.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reactions here.
Any additional comments?
I did enjoy this book. It deserves a 4.5 on the story line for sure. No real curveballs, but maybe a good thoughtless beach read.
