Summary
Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She's made a promise to herself: don't let anyone in, and don't let anyone love her. She's learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she's focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road--her dream of freedom, at least for a little while.
Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all--everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can't let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.
One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she's focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

Great love story but way too many tragedies
Would you listen to Where the Road Takes Me again? Why?
Yes the story was great, but as I wrote in my headline it contains way too many tragedies to be a realistic story
Any additional comments?
A really great story, but it not a believable story because how many tragedies can one person survive? At least a few of the tragedies in the story shouldn't have been in this book since it's way too many deaths to overcome for one person. It makes it into a Not Believable story. Cut half of the death out and it would be a more believable story to relate to. As I wrote earlier I will definitely listen to this book again, but it will never be one of my favorite books

Heartfelt, emotional story with the best voice actors I've heard yet!
This is my favorite audible book to date! Amazon voice actors that emote beautifully.
Jay McLean has once again captured our hearts in another emotionally gripping story of young love. This story demonstrates two young people learning how to navigate through their fears, choices, and feelings. Real life, heavy issues weigh on them both and they must decide how their choices effect each other and everyone else in their lives. Major kudos!! I was brought to tears many times through this story, which is not an easy thing to do. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Red letter read.....
This story made me laugh, cry, dry out, and laugh, cry again. I get NOT Abby and P***y Hunter, there love story is an instant classic. Jay McLean writting style is heartwarmingly real and the audio performance gave it life!!! They may of been young but their story is timeless..

not bad
Nick podehl read this book is good but when it gets to Laura Hamilton parts she sounds way to much like a little girls reading it. that makes it a little bit creepy. sorry but its her voice. not the way she's reading the book.

Amazing audio
Holy Moly, what a book.
The emotion portrayed by the narrators was heartbreakingly beautiful.
The developing relationship between Chloe and Blake was filled with so many ups and downs it sometimes made my head spin.
Blake was everything you would want in a partner. Sweet, considerate, caring, charming, honest, and loving.
While I understood why Chloe was the way she was, I sometimes felt like she was taking away people's choices. She was so stubborn in her belief that she was better off being invisible, that I felt like she was missing out on many opportunities.
I loved the way that Blake worked his magic with her; wormed his way under her armour, and broke down her carefully constructed walls. to see her open herself up the way she did was so satisfying.
And the ending? Gah, it just about gutted me. Talk about heart palpitations. Well played, Mrs McLean, well played.

I think I just became a life long fan.
I can't tell you how much I enjoy Jay McLean stories. This was my first audio book of hers that I chose to listen to. I was very hesitant to listen one of her books. I wondered if it would somehow take away from the story. It didn't, in fact I think that the readers made even more real! The readers did an amazing job putting emotions in all the right parts to really make this story come alive. My only disappointment is that I didn't listen to one sooner. Thank you again Jay McLean for another amazing story. And thank you to Nick Podehl and Laura Hamilton for making these characters feel even more real. I am already looking for my next Audible book.

so sweet it might give you a toothache
this book was really sweet. sometimes a little TOO sweet. the H was completely, unrealistically perfect in every single situation & everything he said. but despite that, it was a good story. it drew me in and kept me listening. the narrator was a little squeal-happy (as was the h) but it didn't bother me enough to ruin the experience.
I definitely appreciate the genre and will read many more by this author.

This book will make you cry.
It's wonderful. It's sweet. It's hopeful. It's heartbreaking. It looks like it'll be a light and fun read, but oh my goodness, it is so much more.

Loved it!
I went back and forth between the audio version and reading it - But overall, I loved this book. It’s your typical “teen romance” book full of cliches, but I found myself crying at times, and wanting more of these characters.

Didn’t like for various reasons...
First—when I started reading & listening, obviously, I thought I was a good story. Boy meets girl falls in love. That would be Blake & Chloe. Blake has the most obnoxious, mean, cheater that even though he falls for Chloe, she doesn’t break up with his nasty girlfriend for a while, which I didn’t understand—but that’s no big deal here. Chloe is in a foster home due to problems but will NOT allow her to be a REAL part of her family, nor will she allow herself to get seriously close to Blake due to her ‘issue’ *NO SPOILERS*
Here’s why I just wasn’t happy—If we the Reader were not told by the characters that they were ONLY in High School I’d swear you’d be thinking these were adults with their every other word! Either “MF F***head, S***Face, F BOMBS in EVERY chapter. It was COMPLETELY unnecessary for a book actually released thru “Amazon’s Children’s Publishing” this is NOT a children’s book and I have 5 adult kids who I know would say the same thing! Believe me I’m no prude, I may not say the F Bomb out loud, but unfortunately we probably think it and say it under our breathe, but I’m also an ADULT—these are supposed to be 17 or 18 yr old teenagers not 20 or 30 something year olds? I just didn’t see the reason behind this? I think when I heard Chloe’s “foster” brother who really isn’t, (long story) and I know he is under 16 or even younger say to her in one chapter “Get the F out of my room, you don’t F love anybody..” And I promise he says it in one sentence after another over and over to her out of anger—WAS IT NECESSARY? Nope
Some reviewers will say “Well you’re being picky & petty! It was a great young love story!” And that it was but—I don’t like those words, I don’t like hearing them over & over nor do I like seeing them in print!!
Yes it’s a sweet love story but it was too fairytale ending, a weird uneventful road trip, and too predictable at a lot of parts.
The only excellent part was Nick Podehl as ‘Blake’ he is a fabulous narrator, I’ve listened to his character of ‘Billy Cunningham’ and I think he’s great..as far as Laura Hamilton she was good as Chloe but as a boys voice it just sounded weird...
I’m sorry if all the ones who laughed and cried hate this review then you don’t mind hearing kids cursing—rather listening or reading those words—but I did and that’s why not all reviews are identical. I can only recommend this book for the parts of the love story that were not laden with cursing.
