Summary
Primarchs, Book 6
Seeking a new challenge and a mighty triumph, Fulgrim - prideful primarch of the Emperor's Children - sets out to conquer a world with just seven warriors by his side....
Listen to it because: It's a unique look at Fulgrim, always one of the most fascinating of the primarchs. And with a focus on him and a small band of heroes, you're guaranteed explosions in character dynamics as well as the action....
The story: Lord of Chemos and bearer of the Palatine Aquila, Fulgrim, primarch of the Emperor’s Children, is determined to take his rightful place in the Great Crusade, whatever the cost. A swordsman without equal, the Phoenician has long studied the art of war and grows impatient to put his skills and those of his loyal followers to a true test. Now, accompanied by only seven of his finest warriors, he seeks to bring a rebellious world into compliance, by any means necessary. But Fulgrim soon learns that no victory comes without cost and the greater the triumph, the greater the price one must pay....

The Phoenix Rises!
An interesting in-depth look at the Third Primarch. Good performance by Mr Keeble. Not as action packed as some 30k novels but it doesn't need to be. Rather, it's an interesting look into the mind of Fulgrim, before chaos corrupted him. Recommended to all Primarch fans.

what book 5 should have been
We see here a very different Fulgrim than book 5 from HH series. He is inteligent, calculated, he dreams of perfection but at the same time he is a realist. He knows perfection cannot truly be achieved but yet he still pursues it relentlesly. Appears to be arrogant only as defensive mechanism and to bait his rivals into trying to exploit it.
He is a very likeable character, total opposite compared to the childish and arogant Fulgrim we had in the previous book that was so blind and stupid and let himself getting toyed by chaos and Horus.
On short, I enjoyed this book alot. Very good writing and peformance but beware that it focuses more on politics and philosophy rather than action.

As fabulous as you'd expect
A great companion to Fulgrim, we finally see why the Lord of the Third was so loved and admired, and already how far along the path of darkness he'd veered by the time his titular novel was written.
Here we see Fulgrim beginning to assemble his Legion, and enter a world of political intrigue and terrorism on such a scale you'd think the Alpha Legion were behind it.
It's an excellent book, well paced and perfectly narrated by Jonathan Keeble who manages the unthinkable - he not only makes early Fabius seem harmless but when the Apothecary begins ranting about the 'hobbies' of the populace, you're trying almost as hard as Fulgrim not to laugh.

Top 3 among the Primarchs series
I've waited a long time to listen to this audiobook and it did not disappoint, I think it’s one of the best of the series (14 titles roles at time of writing) with the Lorgar and Perturabo books. I can’t decide which is the best among those 3, the 2 others tell of the homeworld and growing up of the primarchs, which I really enjoyed but this one gave a really good picture of Fulgrim and his motives. I think it might be the best in making the listener understand the primarch, it was well written and well narrated. It was also a bit longer than some of the others. Overall one of the best 30k books in my opinion, can’t recommend it enough!

Someone just tried to poison me, how rude!
This is a desperately needed addition for Fulgrim. it gives serious character beyond the "Peacock" that we have seen so far. Fulgrim plays to his strengths as a more subtle diplomat and builder rather than the blunt warmonger his brothers typically are. It explains a lot about him and his legion, his insecurity, his parents even. I honestly want this writer to go back and rewrite the other two dimensional Fulgrim stories. The Nerration meanwhile is Pitch perfect and really captures the subtle and refined Palette that is Fulgrim.

Great portrayal of the human side of Fulgrim
Captivating read, where you see Fulgrim on his first conquest - alone. This takes place just as he takes on the conquest of 28-1. We get to examine Fulgrims choices as he tries a bloodless takeover of a world. This story is such a great foil to his development later in the Heresy. Highly recommended

Space Marine bantering for the win
I was surprised on how much I liked this book I even though fan really an emperor has children fan but the way they made the Space Marines and even fulgrim go back and forth in like a actual human way was awesome. it felt like these were actual people oh, the way they would bust on Fabious and just the interaction in general humanized the legionaries. I definitely would recommend this book it had a good story it shows the flaws of fulgrim but also his strengths it's def a good one. some of these primarch books have been stinkers but this is up there with the Magnus one for me.
