Prepare your teen for life
Imagine if you learnt things like self-control when it comes to money from an early age; how different would your choices have been? I love that this book is meant to equip us as educators and as parents to give our teens the kind of skills we wish we had developed early on - skills like time management, self-monitoring, prioritizing, conflict management and emotional regulation. It's very handy!

Helpful and Insighful
This book is extremely helpful for teenagers in acquiring executive functioning skills. Before listening, I took executive functional skills for granted and believed we all eventually developed them. I was so wrong! Gail does an excellent job of educating you on what executive functional skills are, how to identify teens struggling to learn them, and the methods on how to help them develop as their parents or teacher.
I was very impressed with the sections that teach teens the skills to organize, stay focused, self-monitor, and develop working memory. As many of us know, these skills are commonly underdeveloped in teenagers, and I found great value in the instruction on improving them. I also loved the suggestions for playing games with your teenage children, which would surely be productive and fun.
It is very apparent that Gail has a wealth of experience and expertise as a child psychologist, as the professionalism and quality of this book demonstrate.

Simple steps to help your kids!
This book is very helpful in teaching a method of organization that will help teens and anyone for that matter navigate through the difficulties of ADHD or even just daily distractions. I really appreciate some of the ideas in chapter 5 such as breaking down task into smaller chunks and prioritizing doing the hardest task FIRST. This is a struggle for me personally that I didn't realize until reading this book. I often tic off all of the easiest things and then after all that is done and I'm tired and non-focused, I have the biggest and hardest things left to do. Not ideal. I'm going to take the advice in this book and start applying it to my own life. I can easily see how these strategies can be very helpful. Great book, not just for teens, but for adults as well.

Super Practical!
Such an interesting book topic, I never thought about teaching EF to my kids, and I am a 15 year veteran home school mom. This is a great resource for parents. I especially loved chp 7: Emotional Regulation, Self-Monitoring, & Impulse Control. Great practical exercises in every chapter. Thanks for a surprisingly good listen!

Excellent Resource!!!!
As a parent to a teenage daughter and pre-teen boy, this book has opened my eyes to ways I can help my kids cope with the challenges of everyday life. My daughter has always been great at school but recently, I have seen her get stressed over increasing workload and frequent assessments at school. While I've always encouraged her using my maternal instincts, this book has given me the tools I need to help her develop vital skills to deal with these stressful situations herself with little or no input from me.
I particularly love the ideas for fun games and activities we can play as a family to develop executive functioning skills.
A must read for teens and parents alike!!

Great listen, lots of tools & information
My son was diagnosed with EFD around 6 years ago now. He is 15 now. I would of loved to of read this book just before he started into his teens.
But, there's still lots of information and tools to help, I will definitely be trying some of these when it comes to preparing for his GCSEs.
I think this is a great book and not just for kids with EFD.

Executive Functioning by Gail McHugh
I found the book to be very informative. Easy-to-use exercises. Although I don't have children and am not a teacher there were still skills that could enrich anyone's life.

Teen must!
This is a must have book for all teens since everyone ends up managing their own time, activities, projects, and work endeavours when you become an adult or even a young adult. What I really liked about this audiobook is that it teaches you through games which is much more fun and entertaining than simply listening and memorizing information. Great book!
