Summary

Wondering what it would take to finally lose weight and get in shape for good?

If you’re thinking you just need to find the right diet or increase how much you exercise, think again.

No matter what diet or weight loss program you’re on, if you don’t address this one fundamental issue, then you’re inevitably going to fail in your weight loss efforts.

We eat to feel better, to distract ourselves, or to release stress.

But even though you can’t help how you feel, you can decide how you respond to it. And you can learn how to respond more consciously to your emotions so it never holds power over your actions again.

All it takes is a straightforward method that will show you how to take control of your thoughts, be aware of your triggers, and listen to your emotions and needs.

With just a few simple steps, this book will take you through how you can overcome the impulses that lead you to overeat, taking back control of your eating habits.

In this supportive guide, you will discover:

  • How your moods can affect your eating habits.
  • How to separate your eating habits from your emotions using the "let go method."
  • How to break away from the negative thoughts that are holding you back, and how to develop more compassion for yourself instead.
  • What you can do instead of eating to soothe, comfort, distract, or relieve yourself.
  • How to eat mindfully and appreciate your food, and how eating this way can help you avoid overeating.
  • Quick and easy hacks to trick your mind into eating healthier and eating less, while still feeling satisfied.
  • Tools, charts, and templates to help you easily and quickly apply the lessons in this book

And much more.

Instead of pushing down or ignoring your feelings, you need to pay attention to them and find out what it is you really need.

Excellent Guide for Overcoming Emotional Eating!

This book is a non-judgmental, compassionate approach to those of us who reach for food as a comfort in stressful or emotional moments. It delves deeply into the nature of emotional eating, how to identify if it's a problem for you, and what to do about it. The author goes into strategies for creating a healthier relationship with food and with yourself, such as the LET GO method, an acronym to remind you what to do when you start craving certain foods under emotional stress. She tells us why weight loss diets don't work and actually make the problem worse. And then she gives us hope and very clear steps to successfully accomplish a healthy eating lifestyle without ever feeling deprived. There is even an accompanying free PDF with detailed meal plans included. I highly recommend this audiobook!

Deal better with your emotions

Food is comforting. There's no doubt about that. Maybe that's why we eat when we are in distress. I love that this book does not simplify the problem but takes it on with all its complexity. There's a chapter on evading triggers and managing your thoughts, for example, which goes to show that the author knows that it goes beyond just saying no to the food. I recommend this book very highly.

A Healthy Guide to Eating

I felt like this book was written for me. As I listened to the author describe emotional eating and the many problems we face in our society I understood that I too am an emotional eater. However, now that I have the book and the wise counsel it gives I can focus my thoughts and emotions and be aware of the triggers that lead me to eat unnecessarily. If you struggle to eat healthily, this is a great resource to help you turn your eating habits into healthy actions. I highly recommend this book.

The only book you need to conquer emotional eating

This book has everything you need to tackle emotional eating and binge eating disorder. The first thing that caught my ear was how the author relates to the real-life struggles of an emotional eater. I found the examples quite humorous and entertaining, which made it much easier to understand and process as I have been victim to these thoughts when rationalising a food binge.

I loved how the author goes into the psychological reasons people eat emotionally. This gave me a better understanding of why the urges seem unstoppable and will equip me to deal with them in the future. I also was intrigued by the section on diet culture and how it gives us an unhealthy relationship with food. It makes so much sense.

Another benefit was the scenarios and tasks set out to beat emotional eating problems. I know if I practice these, it will help tremendously when a binge urge arises.

Great little bonus at the end about good nutrition and how to form these habits. Overall, an entertaining, informative, and helpful book that I highly recommend.

I might better deal with my emotions and discover my true needs—needs more than merely food—by becoming my emotions. Finding guidelines for weight management and good nutrition is helpful to me.

Taking control!!

I have to confess, I am.an emotional eater and find it difficult to stop myself! I eat when I'm happy, sad, stressed...the list goes on!

This book has helped me understand why I eat, when I eat and recognise the triggers. I have started to separate the emotions from my need to eat to I only eat because I'm hungry. I am committed to making the changes required.

I would recommend this book to anyone in a similar situation.
