Summary

Your child’s hyperactive mind is actually a blessing, not a curse. Here’s what you need to know….

One minute everything is good; your child is calm and focused. But then, in the blink of an eye, something changes—now they’re hysterical, screaming, and getting them to sit still for even half a second is suddenly impossible. Do you often sit there and worry about your child's temper, wishing there was something you could do to help them calm down a bit, but not knowing where to start? Is their frustration leaving you frustrated, causing you both to spiral out of control? You’re not alone.

There are over 6.4 million parents feeling exactly what you are feeling right now. With some deeper insight into what ADHD actually is and how it affects your child's brain, paired with a practical guide for how to effectively navigate this situation, you’ll soon find that your child's “problem” isn’t actually a problem at all.

In Parenting Strategies for Raising ADHD Children, you’ll discover:

  • How ADHD is affecting your child's brain chemistry, and why understanding this is the key to making the right decisions for them
  • The number one thing your child needs from you and how you can give it to them best
  • Why your child’s hyperactive mind is actually a good thing and what you can do to help them realize this
  • Effective strategies for teaching your child how to express their emotions in a way that you can actually understand
  • Why you shouldn't force your child to do things a certain way and how this will help them be more relaxed
  • A play-by-play action guide for helping your child navigate the difficult world of peer pressure
  • How to help your child overcome their limiting beliefs and begin to truly connect with the truth of who they are

Your child needs you to step in and help them understand who they truly are, and why their way of being isn’t actually a problem. More importantly, you also need to give yourself some much-needed breathing room and time for relaxation.

Useful tool for parents with ADHD children

Studies show that 2.4 million (9.6 percent) school-age children aged 6 to 11 years and 3.3 million (13.6 percent) adolescents aged 12 to 17 years are diagnosed with ADHD. This is a large population, not including adults. There is quite a bit of stigma about ADHD children; however, this book provides really good information and advice on how parents could help children thrive in an environment that doesn't entirely support how they navigate the world. In this book, Elizabeth helps parents understand how the brain of ADHD children wire differently, teach them how to embrace their kids' unique character, and provide parents with strategies to better parent children with unique needs. Overall, the book is well structured and easy to stand.

A Must For All

I was interested in this book so I can better understand and help ADHD children and their families I have contact with and it was great for that, I feel I've gained a better understanding that I can really put to good use. I also found so many great things to help gain a more positive relationship with any children and I loved some of the questions to help understand how they view themselves, I had great fun with my daughter coming up with silly questions to ask each other to gain a better understanding of her mindset and help guide her better.

Doable strategies for parents struggling with ADHD

As a mom to a teen with ADHD, I found this book to be just what I needed. He's been bounced around between multiple schools due to his academic and social challenges and I often find myself at a loss with "what do we do now?" As a parent, I am constantly doing what I can to try new and different strategies to best help my son. This book was amazing in that it offered new concepts to me and I'm excited to see how these new strategies will improve not just my son's quality of life, but that of our family as well.

Really solid advice

I have twins with ADHD, and they're so different and have different challenges, but with the book I was able to understand a little better how their brains work. I was able to implement some of the strategies and techniques right away, and it felt much more calm than usual. It'll probably take some time, but it's definitely worth it! HIghly recommended.

Wish I had this sooner

This has been a life-saver. Not only does this audiobook cover many of the misconceptions I had about ADHD (and things I was doing wrong), it also explains why some of the things I was trying weren't working and provides some simple and effective alternatives. This book has given me so much peace of mind, and there were lots of great tips I hadn't heard anywhere else.
I would recommend this thoughtful and well-researched book to any parent of an ADHD child.

The real deal.

If you are a parent of a child with ADHD, you know how challenging it can be at times. It took me a long time to learn that if you have the right tools and knowledge, then difficult situations can be an opportunity to change and grow together. I love how the author explains the science behind why your child is hysterical at times and includes play-by-play action guides to help them navigate a challenging world. Highly recommend it if you want to help your child thrive. The narrator also has a great voice and excellent pacing.
