Summary

A brutal new Ice Age covers the Earth…

When an experiment to reverse climate change goes disastrously wrong, Jarred and his daughter Hope are forced to head south in search of warmth. This manmade eternal winter shows no signs of stopping, and with temperatures continuing to plummet, fears of a new Ice Age drive survivors into a panic.

Jarred and Hope don’t have the wilderness skills needed to survive this disaster. But when their car spins out of control, they’re forced to fend for themselves in the ruthless and unforgiving forest surrounding them. And as they journey through the snow-swept wilderness, they slowly discover they are not alone….

Survivalist Fiona knows how to deal with a harsh winter on her own, but this new world is deadly. She’s got a cabin stockpiled, and is all alone until she runs across Benjy, a forest ranger who’s ready to help, but has his own reasons for staying with her.

Civilization is crumbling. There’s no electricity. The cold is getting worse, and resources are scarce. To survive, Jarred and Hope will have to find allies they can trust, and push themselves harder than they ever imagined. Because even a moment’s weakness in this harsh icy wasteland can mean only one thing.

Freezing to death in the merciless cold…

survival

I have really enjoyed listening to Endless winter, it's very possible that people could survive in the way the Authors have described and there's always some people who would become violent and want control over others in these circumstances of survival.

A Really Good Story Read Well by Maxwell Zener

Grace Hamilton writes in a very imaginative way. This book has, amongst others, a whinging teenager and an oily park ranger to add extra dimensions to the story. The endless snow and bitter weather provide the framework from which the characters can develop. As with other books by this author, there are elements of cosy preparedness which act as the lure to keep the characters pressing forward facing very real danger as they strive to reach that safety. An excellent read with plenty of adventure and cosy safety to be had! Highly recommended.

The book is read very well allowing you to forget that it is only one person reading many characters. In particular, Maxwell Zener did the whingey teenager well – she could be very aggravating! Well worth buying.

Decent amount of peril and imagination

This feels a very long audio book, but it is broken down effectively into sections, with each one having its own peril and conclusion and so the story moves on. Yes you do have to let your imagine go with it but that is the fun of reading/listening to these types of books. The narration suited the story and all in all would recommend.

Wish I could write a better review, listened to the end still no better.

Very poorly written. Only kept listening as I needed to know what happened. Then just kept despairing as I really don’t think people say or act like these did in certain situations. The only person you got to know was Fiona she kept me going and I really wished I hadn’t bothered.

Just Horrible

Feels like a child wrote this. The performance makes a weak story even worse. Whiny narrator.

"Indeed"

Boy, the authors of this book REALLY like to use the word "indeed". I wish I had a count of how often it was used. It was VERY annoying! Also, the story is pretty boring and none of the characters were likeable. The end.

Great Listen.

I was pulled into this story right from the beginning. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next, and how it was going to end. Very enjoyable listen.

Glad I stuck with it!

It took forever to get the plot moving, but once it did it turned into a pretty good story. It almost feels like the author(s) need to learn how to plan and execute writing a novel. There were sub-plots that they spent a decent amount of time developing early on in the story that ended up not really contributing to the story later. In a couple of cases it kind of leaves you wondering where they had planned on using them later. Another book? Overall I'm glad that I stuck with it, but I probably will stay away from future 20+hr books by this author in the future.

stupid characters

Basic things like not knowing to sweep accumulating snow from a roof. Yes there are stupid people but not ones who have lived alone for a long period and survived. Fiona was a little too dumb to be believable.

New Ice Age

What happens when a project goes wrong and creates the next ice age? The authors write a compelling and believable post apocalyptic tale of survival. The characters are well written and flow well together. Loaded with tons of drama and a surprise ending. Very entertaining read.

Tried 3 times but no go

I’ve tried three times to listen to this but I just cannot tolerate this narrator. Every voice he attempts is so whiny I can’t even begin to like or understand the character because my only inclination is to smack them upside their noggin for being such a whiny little dweeb! I really do not like having to return a purchase, however it is pretty clear that I’ll never get past this narrators voice and begin to enjoy whatever story might be hidden underneath this very poor choice of a narrator. Please save your money or credit and pass on this.

This is a BIG book!

This is a VERY BIG book. That’s not a bad thing but just be aware.

Another great post-apocalyptic story. This time the rich and powerful have messed up trying to “fix” things and created a bigger problem—a raging, endless winter. No invasion, war or other event—just the weather which is merciless and unpredictable.

The book starts a bit slowly as we meet our characters early on and they are just normal average people that find themselves out of their depth. If they are going to survive, they’ll have to adapt, learn and evolve quickly. I’m reminded of that commercial “it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”.

We’ll developed story that flows smoothly with nothing far fetched. It all sounds possible.

Totally enjoyed the book which is excellently crafted and well developed. Our characters are shaped by events, a storyline that tests them in many ways and a harsh environment that made we want to crawl into bed and hide. I’m pretty sure if snow started to fall while I was reading this I would have panicked. I fell into the story and didn’t want to leave. Excellent read but note the length. I did get involved in the storyline and didn’t want to leave it which kind of messed with my schedule—totally worth it!
