Summary
Rookie Cop Dave Stewart knew that William Bailey was guilty of murder. All he had to do to convict him was change one line in his statement.
Detective Chief Superintendent John McCauley loves dirt. He collects it in secret files to use against his enemies, and since Stewart slept with the beautiful Detective Sergeant Anne Wallace, he is the enemy. Stewart hatches a plan to destroy the evidence against him, but inside McCauley's files is evidence of a vile paedophile ring operating under the Chief's nose. Now three people are dead, and Dave Stewart is the prime suspect.

Fantastic
There are few books that I can get into quickly, that keep me hooked from start to end and that I find myself making every free moment possible to listen and then feel sad when it ends. So when I find one, I am totally delighted and this is one of them. To add, this is also a new author for me, so am now looking forward to going through his back catalog!
The story is believable but does cover a difficult subject and not for the faint hearted.
The story is set in areas and a time that I am personally familiar with and that is a novel experience for me! and I think helped and made the story feel more personal.
Only negative, from the story, is that I felt it ended too abruptly. I think an epilogue would have tied the book up very neatly, as I still have some questions. But it will be no hardship to listen again and see if I missed anything.
Finally, I generally enjoyed the narrators performance. Only criticism was that some of the accents were not always consistent and his accent of the prisoner from Manchester sounded a lot more Scouse than Manc. Also some of his pronouncements of local place names was not correct, but that’s a small detail and didn’t spoil my enjoyment.
Highly recommended.

Fantastic.
Well written enthralling story, believable and another perfect performance by Jonathan Keeble. I couldn't stop listening but I can catch up on missed sleep later - overall this is by far one of the best books I have listened to on Audible.
I only have one criticism and that is that the ending is way too abrupt and leaves so many questions unanswered, however my hope is that this was deliberate and there is a followup on the authors word processor as I write - this is far to good a build up to end here.

First of all, this narrator is fantastic! The story is spellbinding, like a large, tightly woven, spider web that slowly unravels. I'm a serious thriller/mystery fan, and this book was a very pleasant surprise. I couldn't stop listening and sadly just finished it at 3am.
