Excellent resource

As somebody who has struggled with their diet and weight for over 40 years I found this book most helpful. The narration is clear and the messages are simple but also powerful. The timing of me reading the book helped as I chose to look at my alcohol consumption recently as well and I have found my diet is also much improved, as though my taste buds have some how changed!

Everyone needs a William Porter.

I love this guy, he’s full of brilliant advice and makes you THINK about what you’re putting into your mouth, be it drink or food.
If you enjoyed this ‘Alcohol Explained’ is an excellent listen too.
Thank you Mr Porter your audio books have been a light in the dark days of lockdown and have definitely helped me stay positive 👍

Back to basics, just as it should be

This book really hits the mark when it comes to explaining exactly what happens to our food, good and bad and how that makes us feel. Really easy to understand and implement in my own life. It made perfect sense. Enjoyed Nick Jermyn's narration too. Thanks

Made me think a lot!

I have been struggling with the thought process of weight and healthy lifestyle. I love the way this book explains all the basics and after 40 years it finally makes some sort of sense to my brain. There are so many conflicting stories out there but for me this one is spot on. I’m really trying to have a better end of life than the start was - my theory, you’re never too old! Thank you for the inspiration

Most is not scientifically accurate

Dude says that humans shouldn't eat meat, says that beer bellies aren't made of fat but instead your organs swelling up from eating meat, says eating in the morning wont spike your metabolic rate, says there is no such thing as starvation mode... etc. Most of the book was alright but its all common sense, then it goes in to huge sections about things that are not even remotely accurate.

Amazing book!

I started my weight loss journey about 7 months ago & I’m down 44 lbs. My riding instructor recommended this book to me a few weeks ago & I thoroughly enjoyed it! There is a lot of great information here that I found incredibly helpful for the next stages of my journey. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent direct writiting

I love his direct style of writing. I listened to diet and exercise explained because his first book alcohol explained. His direct clear organized approach to whatever subject I now consider a benchmark to measure other books against. I hope he continues writing since his books have been helpful to me and I expect to others. If you are interested in a subject he is writing about you will finish his books with a clear understanding of the relevant details.

Calories do not equal weight gain or loss

Writer is misinformed.

If calories in calories out model was correct, then everyone who has ate salads and chicken for months would be thin.

Obviously this is not the case.

This book has changed me forever!

This book is quite literally the absolute best most informative writing that is nonstop giving you the best knowledge and common sense advice on how to look at your own habits and change them! I am a former drinker who drank a bottle of wine everyday for over a decade and since reading his two alcohol books,, I have been sober by choice for nearly 5 months!! Since then my diet has needed some serious help as I’m a binge eater also. I cannot believe it but this book was able to show me what I was doing which was absolutely common sense but somehow he wrote it in such a way that resonated with me and things clicked. Thank you Willam for changing my life!! This book is a must for anyone who is motivated to change your habits!!

another great book by Will Porter

Porter's no nonsense style helps you alter your behavior by telling you the truth about the life you're living in a way that coheres with your experience. While scientifically informed, he only explains science where it's helpful for understanding your daily experiences
