About this listen

The Tower of Eternity holds unimaginable treasures... for those strong enough to claim them.

The clock is ticking, and Earth is on the verge of being swallowed by the Undead Empire. Zac has one final chance to gain the power needed to deal with the threat; the upper levels of the Tower.

But even if he survives the challenges of the 81 levels, another trial await him outside. A bounty has been placed on his head by the System itself, and the young elites of the whole sector are sharpening their knives.

After a very slow start, things do start to get better. The story does progress but not as much as I’d have liked for a 24 hour long book.

The writing still hasn’t improved from the previous books though. Too many “unfortunately”, “by now”, “actually” etc. They are just not needed in every sentence.

Overall mot a bad book though and after I got to around 12 hours I did find myself enjoying the story. Will definitely be getting the next one

Good but drags on a bit at the beginning

This series just continues to be great. Can't wait to see what happens next.

The autor lost to much time with Zac thoughts that are useless but this book have a lot of fight's and conclusions.

It's now my second time listening through the series and while I noticed some repetition in the first go through, It was far worse the second go around.

Dialogue is constantly repeated over and over and sometimes, towards the end, within the same sentence or sentences right next to each other.

Oh? You might say? Well, that's one of the examples of limited vocabulary used for dialogue throughout, not just this book, but the entire series so far. It's mostly from the MC - which makes him appear dumb as hell, harder to like and makes you wonder how he even made any friends or even managed to get into a relationship before the fall.

Other examples spanning all the books until now are: "What?", "You!", "by now", "at this point", "however" and "the thing".

I believe there's some more, but I honestly don't remember or care too much to list everything. Nor do I even need to, because even those few examples are repeated again and again without fail and really sapped my enjoyment. So much so that it took this series from something I would heartily recommend, to something I would be somewhat embarrassed by doing so.

Personally, I think the fault lies with the author wanting to add the additional information that might've been included in a question, for example like when "Oh?" is used, and instead put the necessary information the MC already had, below the dialogue in question. It's fine for us because we're reading/listening, but if you were to cut all that, the dialogue would seem pretty abnormal in my opinion, considering the amount of times this happens.

This would be fine on occasion, but it's so bad when it persists even after 4 books of the same thing. It takes you out of the amazing multiverse that's been created and hampers the believability of all the characters, no matter how good they are.

And yes, the problem attaches to nearly every character, even supreme entities of the multiverse. Enough that I jokingly justified it as a limitation of the book of babble at times.

Ultimately, I just hope this issue gets rectified, even if a little, as it would do wonders for the perceived intelligence of charactes and by doing so make things believable and eliminate the risk of being taken out of the story in annoyance/disappointment.

As a final note, I think the narrator has been perfect and definitely played no small part in saving the series for me. Can't wait for book 6.

Enjoyed, but dialogue repetition is harming that.

... and yet still crawling along on the main plot lines. While there are some I retesting developments, there's too little happening with all the strings having been set up from book 3 onwards. Still, an absolutely great listen.

Story is picking up the pace...

I am seriously loving this series only three books to go in the series and then I'm done

5 down 3 to go

this story really comes in 2 parts: a tower climbing like period and a system apocalypse-esq defeat the invaders section. both are great and the class progression is very nuanced and well thought out.

Good continuation

More overpowered excellence, fantastic story and we have learnt a heap of new background lore (which I really enjoyed). Story is gaining a lot of future plot lines as well, interested to see how they will progress and how JF will ever write them all up! Can't wait for more

Absolutely excellent continuation
