Summary

Ishmael Jones is faced with a dead body and a missing mummy in this highly entertaining, genre-blending mystery.

“Death shall come on swift wings to whoever desecrates this tomb....”

Ishmael Jones and his partner Penny have been summoned to remote Cardavan House, home of the world’s largest private collection of Ancient Egyptian artefacts, for the unveiling of George Cardavan’s latest acquisition: a bona fide Egyptian mummy.

When a bloodstained body is discovered beside the empty sarcophagus, Ishmael is dismissive of the theory that the mummy’s curse is to blame. Instead, he sets out to uncover the human killer responsible. But how can Ishmael explain the strange, shuffling footsteps that creep along the corridors? Who is playing games with them...and why?

Fantastic series

I’ve loved all of them so far. Pacy, well written, great characters and clever plots. Highly recommend.

Entertaining

Good story and quite entertaining, even funny in places, however I found the narration awful, grating and sometimes robotic. Another narrator such as Richard Armitage could have taken this audible to a whole new level.

best one in the series so far

perfection from start to thrilling end. Simon R, Green has really done it this time. the plot line is a lot more straigt in this book the the previous ones and the Narrater does an amazing job in given the persons life and personality

perfect mix

I loved this book. Sufficient background of the main character is explained in the prologue to suggest there is a lot more to discover. This atmosphere builds and soon the story arrives in the sinister, isolated country pile where the mystery unfolds. I liked the Agatha Christie type characters in and the narrator was excellent. it is exciting and easy to listen to but sufficiently intricate to keep you guessing.
I am in looking for another Simon Green already.

an amusing take on the murder mystery

I've not read the previous books so had no idea of who or what Ishmael is, but an entertaining story nonetheless

Even better than the others so far

We get to know a little more about his background.
Let's hope for more about his origins.

Easy listening, well narrated

The Ishmael Jones mysteries all tend to follow a similar format - group of people get together in creepy house then one by one they start disappearing / dying. A bit like a modern day Agatha Christie story with a bit of Alien thrown in to shake things up. Easy listening and well recommended if they are free but I probably wouldn't waste a credit on them
