very enjoyable.

The books are too short so I've binge listened to all of them in sequence. Jonathan Keeble is an excellent reader that combined with really good writing and very good characters makes this series well worth a listen.

Really Like this series but ...

I read the book first. Jonathan Keeble's narration is really good for Tom and the other male characters - but do not like him narrating women (male voice makes them sound a bit like pantomime dames!!.
I have read all of this series and enjoyed them all - but the women are becoming a bit irritating to read. All bossy and 1 dimensional for me!

A bit samey

Brilliantly narrated as always but nothing memorable in this one - has the series run out of oomph?

Why changing Detective's mother's name

From book 1, mother who raised him was called Frida, in this one they are referring to her as Jean?!

FANTASTIC ! ! !

I can't believe that I found this series by chance. I listened to the first four books, what a treat it was having them included in your membership, and then I was hooked. I've ended up listening to all 10 books in the space of a week. I love that they are so true to the social mix of urban life I am used to. The relationship between Calladine and Bayliss is just right as is their relationship with the rest of the team, they gel so well and so when tragedy does strike at the heart you feel the sence of loss as much as the characters do.

I would highly recommend this series starting with book 1. A big shout out to the narrator who along with the stories themselves is the reason that I've been coming back for more. I really hope this is not the end and Helen continues the series.
