About this listen

She promised her love would set him free. He promised he’d break her. They were both right.

Brady Hewitt was all too familiar with the horrors of war. They clung to him, or maybe he clung to them, using the nightmares as an excuse to keep others at bay—especially his boss’ daughter, Hadley Walker. Beautiful, sexy, ambitious, and forbidden. Not just because the former Special Forces soldier respected her father and liked his job, she was too good for him—all sunshine and smiles while he was darkness and filth.

Hadley Walker knew all about love—how it felt, its power, and its ability to heal. Her parents taught her first, then her uncles, cousins, and siblings. Her family taught her something else—never quit, never retreat, and never turn your back on those you love. Hadley’s mission was simple—convince the man she’d fallen in love with to take a chance. But winning the battle wouldn’t be simple. Brady Hewitt was as stubborn as he was traumatized, clutching to his demons and refusing to let them go. Though Hadley’s persistence gave her a tactical advantage—the more she pushed, the more he wanted to believe.

Just as Hadley’s winning the war, with Brady teetering on the edge of all the beauty they could share, disaster strikes. Ugliness wraps itself around Brady’s heart and he shuts down. Leaving Hadley with one last question: who was right—her or Brady?

Does love conquer all, or are there some nightmares that people never let go?

An incredible military romantic suspense.

Damaged is the first book in the Triple Canopy series and is the forbidden age-gap romantic suspense story of Brady Hewitt and Hadley Walker.
Brady is an ex special forces hero who has seen the horrors of war up close and personal and as a result has PTSD with which he is not dealing. Brady has worked at Triple Canopy for years; he is very quiet and keeps to himself but is very good at his job. He met Hadley Walker four years ago and has been attracted to her since the moment he laid eyes on her but has kept his distance not only because he works for her father and uncles and is seven years her senior but also due to a secret from his past and his belief that he isn’t worthy of love especially from someone as pure as Hadley. Will Brady get the help he needs? And will he survive the whirlwind that is hurricane Hadley?
Hadley Walker, one half of the Walker girl twins, the outgoing, outspoken librarian. Known as hurricane Hadley to her family, when she sets her mind and her sights on something she goes after it relentlessly and her sights are set on Brady Hewitt, however, she finds herself at the mercy of a cult. Will Brady and her family be able to save her before it’s too late? Will Brady put his demons to rest to save the woman he loves?
Brady’s brusque, stubborn, protective ways and Hadley’s fiery, seductive personality coupled with her witty banter contribute to this unique, multidimensional take on a romantic suspense love story.
Connor Crais and MacKenzie Cartwright get this series off to the most magnificent start.
Connor’s performance as the hunky, broken, brooding marksman was amazing. MacKenzie perfectly portrayed the exuberant, sultry, caring librarian. I love this pairing, Connor and MacKenzie complement each other perfectly and always set the tone of a book or in this case the series in the most spectacular fashion.
I loved this audiobook so very much. If you love a military romantic suspense with a forbidden age-gap undertone, a gorgeous headstrong heroine who goes after what she wants and a hot, hunky, and brooding hero chasing redemption then grab yourself Damaged by the fabulous Riley Edwards.

So emotional

I don’t think i have ever read/listened to a story with such an emotional storyline that is based on the MMC so this book blazed a trail for me and did it in such a way that i am not sure anyone will ever be able to compete.

Connor Crais performed the emotions of Brady in a fantastic way, you could really hear the hurt and pain that lived within him.

This is a tough listen at times and as much as you want to be angry with Brady for a lot of his actions and the way he handles Hadley, you can just tell that there are reasons, and good ones that will break your heart which are why he is this way. When it comes it’s truly heartbreaking and give Mackenzie Cartwright the room to perform brilliantly the part of Hadley and especially when she is showing her true strength and standing by Brady and showing him the way to a future together.

Just wonderful, be prepared to immerse yourself back into this world and get ready for more Jasper (*sigh*) and the rest of the 707 as they continue to guide these characters to the most wonderful of hea’s.
