Summary

My heart doesn’t beat, it ticks. It’s been that way since I was 16 years old and I caught my sister in bed with my boyfriend. I gave my heart to a boy who didn’t deserve it, then spent the next few years indulging in hard drugs and even harder sex. Life is easier when you don’t get attached. Casual. No commitments. That’s the rule. At least it was before he came along.

Cash Davidson is the tattooed prince who walked into the restaurant where I work and turned my life upside down. He is everything I never knew I needed. There’s just one problem Tick. Tick. Tick. He’s my best friend’s dad.

Boom.

I was into it

I liked the story. Sometimes these stories can go on 30olus chapters, but I felt it didn’t keep me longer than it had to. Male narrator was phenomenal. Female narrator should have been different. Felt her voice didn’t fit the character. Good story overall.

Tick, tick, tick

Tick, tick, tick...
Cherry Valentine, the chaotic mess who is both smart and destructive!

She does the most destructive thing she could ever do, fall for her best friend's dad - Cash the hot Brit who is hot, dominant, and so, so sexy! He swoops in and turns Cherry's life completely around. He's conflicted because she's his daughter's friend and roommate and he's trying to have a relationship with her after they've been kept apart, but Cherry is addictive. He cares for her, makes sure she cares for herself and punishes her if she doesn't.😳

Arden, her best friend - the sister she's acquired who is more of a sister than her real sister Sunny. She's apprehensive about her "dad" suddenly showing up and wanting a relationship, she's also conflicted and confused.

When Arden finds out the secret they're keeping will this be the end of their friendship? Can she find it in her heart to forgive her bestie and her dad for their lies?

I was completely engrossed in the audiobook. I'm really an "audio snob," but the narrator's were perfect Lacy Laurel & Connor Crais made the audio enjoyable and I will be looking for more from the author and the narrators.

Steam for days!

This steamy age gap romance brought the heat! There was angst, emotion, drama, and passion. Cash was a delicious hero. Sexy, determined, caring, and persistent. Cherry was mired in past trauma. Her tough exterior hid a deeply vulnerable heart. These two were a perfect match, but their relationship was weighed down by less than ideal circumstances.

Lacy Laurel and Connor Crais did a wonderful job of fueling the emotion in the story. This was a duet style narration and it flowed flawlessly.

Secrets are rarely secret

I really enjoyed this novel. It was the first book I’ve read by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. The narration was good. Again with the firsts as I hadn’t listened to anything read by Lacy Laurel and she kept me engaged. And come on, Connor Crais? Further, Connor Crais with an accent??!🔥🔥🔥

Excellent narration and great story

I really do like it when authors find a way to write forbidden type of tropes but with a great plot and story line. This book is exactly that, it surpasses just steamy scenes, there is a swoony love story there. The narration is SO good. I am starting to think Lacy is one of my fave narrators. And this book has the DUAL narration? Def a great audio experience!

Perfect narration for this forbidden romance

Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb

Tell me I'm not the only Runaways fan and kept singing this song as soon as I saw the title. 😉
Cherry is strong-willed, kick butt 19-year old college student that I just loved right from the get go. Her strong personality came through and I knew I was going to root for her no matter what her story was. She jumps right off the page. While she is waiting tables, in walks her boss's friend, Cash who is a much older sexy man...with an accent! A man that can dress and has a good credit score. So out of Cherry's league, right? But boy do these two explode with chemistry! Immediate attraction leads to a night that these two won't soon forget.

But this isn't just an age gap romance, it's even more forbidden. What will Cherry and Cash do once they realize that Cash's daughter Arden is Cherry's best friend and roommate??!!

Give me the forbidden and give me Carmel Rhodes brand of writing. She sucked me in with the way these characters came together and learned to trust. Not only did I get to experience Cherry and Cash through Ms Rhodes creative mind, I got to listen to two amazing narrators that absolutely killed their portrayal of the characters. Lacy Laurel and Connor Crais!! Be still my beating heart!!
I Absolutely LOVED the duet narration audio performances. I don't see this often enough in books but when done right, it's like watching (listening to) a movie with your ears. And Lacy and Connor did that for me with not only Cash and Cherry, but also the other characters they voiced. Wonderfully done!!

Overall, I enjoyed the forbidden age gap story. A little predictable, a bit of a hard life for Cherry that led to her making poor choices in the present, but still darn good. The audiobook really brought it to life and upped my enjoyment of the story. Tick tick tick BOOM!!

deliciously forbidden

This book was the perfect lust-filled mix of forbidden, age-gap emotional love. Cherry and Cash fell together so seemlessly and their chemistry was so well done. What do you do when you fall into lust with and older man who happens to be your best friends dad? Well, Cherry made some missteps, but she was only 19 so I have her some grace knowing exactly how my mind worked at 19.
This book was a delicious treat and I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

The audio was a duet narration and that might just be my new favorite yet!

A great age gap with fantastic narration!

If you’re looking for a fantastic age gap new adult romance, Cherry Bomb is the book for you! Cherry and Cash meet and really hit it off. Then things get complicated. Even though things are more forbidden than they first thought, they can’t seem to stay away from one another.

I read a book this year with a similar premise/troupe and it didn’t work for me, but I’m so glad this one did! Sometimes it’s how it’s written and how much you connect with the characters that make you love the book! And even though Cherry and Cash weren’t necessarily relatable to me, I could truly feel how much they cared about each other and the love between them.

Cherry Bomb was a quick listen with a lot of steam, angst, and a lot of heart. Carmel Rhodes writing was fantastic and I can’t wait to continue on with this series! I’m pretty sure the next book is a nanny book and I’m so here for that!
