Pleased I persevered with the first P.I Hanlon
I wasn't sure I was going to get away with the narration at first. I speeded up the reading of the first book by .5x and it was okay. After a few chapters I was hooked. Buried for good has been my favourite and I hope there are more to come. I think Hanlon is great. I have ended up really enjoying the narrator,.

My least favourite Alex Coombs book
I’ve listened to 2 other Alex coombs books and absolutely loved them, hence downloading the third but this one was not a patch on the other two. It just didn’t have the same liveliness and pace of the previous two, and also included in an element of the magical/psychic which I really didn’t like. It was ok but if I’d have read this one first, I wouldn’t have downloaded any of the authors other stories, which would have been a real shame.

Boring
This was a complete disappointment after having listened to the first two books in this series. This was long and drawn out. There were way too many suspects and no clear motives for each suspect. I listened through to the end because I used a credit. It should’ve been free. There was just absolutely too much going on and the conclusion left me just as confused as the beginning did.
I’m very disappointed.

Enjoying this series a lot
This is the 3rd book in this series. Not only am I enjoying each individual mystery, but also the longer arc of character development across the books.
Beautifully written, the sense of place is always present, but descriptions never slow the narrative. Physical actions are easy to follow - not always an easy feat in books that feature a lot of action sequences.
The main character is unique in my experience of mystery fiction. Describing her too much would be a spoiler, so I’ll just say that she’s far more than she seems to be at 1st meeting.
I highly recommend this series and I’m hoping it continues.
