Summary

Ashton Barclay, or as I like to call him, Mr. B. for "Bossy", is fast becoming the bane of my existence. After running into him, literally, he’s now popping up everywhere and somehow managing to weave his way into my life. He’s egotistical, smug, and so ridiculously good-looking it should be illegal - he’s way too hot to handle. I don’t do hot, those type of guys are more trouble than they’re worth. Although, I’d secretly love to do him. We’ve kissed once - it was smokin’, and led to me dry humping his leg in front of the entire club like a shameless hussy. Oh, and did I mention I deep-throated his thumb within seconds of meeting him, and I didn’t even know his name. Apparently, I have issues. Big ones. He makes me do things I never imagined myself doing. He makes me feel things I’m not comfortable feeling. It just wouldn’t work, even if I wanted it to. Between us, we have more baggage than a carousel at LAX airport. He’s everything I want but can never have. Or so I thought.

One star for Wen

I wanted to give up on this audio so many times. Wen, guys don't talk like that. The breathy up note at the end of every sentence was unnatural and ANNOYING. I can't even comment on the story. Wen ruined it.

Alright .... but....

This is a new to me author. I liked how Ashton and Emma's story began, although thought they moved a little fast. That didn't last for long though; as the story started to drag on, the same type of events happening over and over again. It seemed like Emma was explaining a lot about her past, while Ashton was very quiet. I still had 5 hours to go when I gave up listening. In addition to this, Wen Ross' portrayal of an Australian accent for Chance Bateman is awful - the worst I've ever heard. It was more like a terrible attempt of Irish tongue. Being Australian, this was a huge turn off despite Chance being only a minor part of the book.

GREAT!

Fantastic book! Passionate, full of mischief and loving/hate relationship. Family values but more than anything the fact that real love can survive and surpass any obstacles is the main message on this great book!

So deep! ❤

Wow, I feel like I got more from this story than expected. Listening about Emma's and Ashton's story of friendship to lovers is a journey of acceptance. They go from insta-lust to psuedo enemies, to awkward friends, to lovers after baring their baggage.
Chance plays a part in this, and so does Carla. 😁
Warning for animal lovers 😢 it's not bad though or pointless, just sad.
Trigger warning for people who've attempted or have (had) thoughts of suicide. PSA: no matter where you're at in your life reach out to someone, a stranger online, a mental health professional, a friend, or family member.

Why was Wen Ross so nasally sounding?

I’m not sure why the male narrator was so nasal when he was speaking as Ashton. He didn’t do it when he was speaking as Emma or any of the other characters. It was really off putting and detracted from the experience.

soooo not feeling Wen in this one

DNF. I'm in chapter 2 or something and yeah. I can't listen to this breathy, dramatic interpretation of internal dialogue anymore. someone who talks like this to others is weird. Someone who talks to THEMSELVES in this "I think I'm a hot pron star" voice is just...no.

Emma, you're a badass survivor!

I thought that this story was great and the narrators did a great job. Now just tell me where Karla and Grayson's story is? I need to know what happened. It is eating at me...

Bossy Bastard

was a good story over all. Astons character took to long to really develop and by the time he does it's the end of the book. Emma was stronger/ more forgiving then I i would have been. especially are she shared all her past trauma and Aston kept hold back.
