Summary

From world-renowned adventurer and bestselling author of The Art of Resilience and The World’s Fittest Book, comes the ultimate blueprint to building a bulletproof body.

Ross Edgley has spent decades perfecting the principles and practice of extreme fitness to achieve the impossible. Following a career-threatening injury in 2018, Ross was forced to reassess his training and take the next steps in a lifelong journey of redefining what the human body is capable of. In Blueprint, Ross shares the cutting-edge training program that empowered him to rebuild his body from surgery and a doctor’s gloomy prognosis in just 365 days to complete a world record swim.

Whether it’s climbing a mountain, swimming the English Channel, or a gruelling triathlon, Blueprint will teach you the tried and tested principles of sports science that have been used for decades by Olympians, explorers and adventurers at the limits of peak physical endurance.

Blueprint is Ross Edgley's complete training journey that shows you how to:

• Divide a 365-day training plan into seasons (winter, spring, summer and autumn)

Rebuild your body using evolutionary medicine

• Build a superhuman work capacity with forgotten Spartan-style training

• Gain bulletproof resilience through Soviet-inspired strength training

• Boost your aerobic base with Olympian techniques.

Blueprint applies the exact same principles that enabled Ross to complete extreme feats such as the World's Longest Sea Swim, World's Longest Rope Climb, World's Heaviest Triathlon and World's Strongest Marathon.

Ross is your elite guide to achieving the impossible in the gym and beyond. Featuring almost 30 tailored workouts for different phases of training, packed with digestible sports science to help you optimise your workouts, and interspersed with Ross' own daring adventures across the world, Blueprint is the ultimate guide to optimising your time and training to make the impossible possible.

Well worth a listen.

The amount of information in this book is absolutely phenomenal. Disappointed, Ross didn't narrate himself.

He's a physical fruitcake, but a stoic genius too.

For 4 days a week at 06:45, 'Blue Print' filled my walks to the gym/pool perfectly. Some days I decided to just keep walking instead.

Not the same with out Ross

Amazing content as expected by this stoic super human, was massively looking forward to this coming out. My only negative is the narration although clearly read there are a few fluidity concerns at points and his accents are borderline offensive they are so bad.
Would pay the money again for a version read by Ross.
Still though buy this book it’s not ruined by the narration just not as awesome as it could have been.

Legitimately Inspired

As a book it is fantastically written and narrated. Ross incorporates his personal experience with scientific data to back it up plus an added sprinkle of philosophical guidance/motivation. The book is entertaining, easy to follow and the narrator doesn't get bogged down in details displayed in the associated PDF file. Would 100% recommend.

Personally I've always struggled with exercise routines. After the programme I tend to lose direction. This book provides a complete year of carefully structured and well reasoned preparatory->constructive->specific fitness plans and I am committed to stringently testing it between now and this time next year.

Good training principles told through odd narratives

I have already started incorporating the blueprint for my upcoming all off-road triathlon in the Lake District later this year, I.e. my adventure where I’ll reach peak mesocyclone. The training principles told on a macro scale that break up the year and allow me to see a bigger picture for fitness goals is fantastic.
However, some of the narratives used to explain these principles are quite frustrating. He talks at length about the great British swim and I couldn’t help but feel I could just watch the great British swim on tv as he describes it as such length and detail. Another example is his training with Eddie hall but I had already seen the YouTube videos on it and was now listening to his description of something I had already seen. It just seems odd to turn well published video content into a book as it feels like repetition.
Overall it’s an entertaining listen despite the negative above and the point is I am actually able to apply the training principles already and it’s working. I have a long term plan to reach peak performance for my adventure race.

ensential reading for everyone who likes to train

Im in the fitness business 12 years now and this is by far one of the most info dense books ive ever read/listened to. Ross educates the reader through pure science, facts, real world experience and useable info topped off with his hilarious english sense of humor.

Your books keep getting better bro, keep em coming
