Well worth a Token!

This is classic bread and butter Sci Fi. Well worth the token for the set. it's not going to blow your mind with unreal futuristic concepts but it will scratch a certain space faring itch. it's a essentially 18th century sea faring in space. A special mention to the narration as you quickly forget your actually listening to a single actor.

Well written, excellent narration, superb omnibus

This was my introduction to Michael Wallace’s books – Kindle and Audible versions. For me, the storylines are well written and I enjoyed the action, suspense, humour and the bit of romance that they include. Steve Barnes provides excellent narration for the Audible version and produces a good selection of different voices that clearly identify the various characters. The combination of the descriptive writing and the wonderful narration make the characters and events very vivid so that you can believe you are right there (the same way you can become immersed in watching a film). Not only does the Blackbeard Superbox contain books 1-4 of the Starship Blackbeard series but as a bonus the Sentinel Trilogy books are included. I definitely liked that fact that the Superbox is an omnibus of two consecutive series of books so that I could immediately read/listen to one book after another and didn’t feel that I’d been left with any cliff hangers.

Fantastic. Funny. Grpping.
May I suggest you listen to this superbox. I feel you will not be disappointed with it.
The characters come through. Especially Cap. Her one liners class.

the worst narration and story ever

A good narrator can turn a bad book into something palatable. An exceptional narrator is golden. unfortunately this narration is so abismal i would rather enjoy being hit in the face with a bluebottle ( big bug for those in usa) whilst riding my harley wearing an open faced helmet whilst negotiating a hare pin bend on gravel.

even for 1 credit 45 hours of my life is worth more, like say props pig on repeat would be better time consuming. that said it is not all the narrators fault, the story is pants. now i will caveat that with the fact that i only managed a few hours of this bilge before linda blair exorcist vomiting in an attempt to rid myself from it.

now if you want to see what i consider good narration look at rcbray with two diff authors, the expeditionary force series (authors craig alanson) and the mountain man series (author keith blackmore). two completely different genre

for another exceptional narrator look at mark boyett or from the expanse series jefferson mays

decent science fiction ruined by performance

the story, albeit not very original and a bit unnecessarily based on "old British" society of the days of the British Empire, is pretty entertaining. but the whole experience is ruined by the narrator - maybe it is me, but I could not listen to the guy. it is completely over the top in parts and in parts it's just bad acting.

Great value and well narrated

Enjoyed this box set you can’t really complain at the price and 59 hours of narration. Great company while in a run or in car will get the next in the series

great idea but not a good read

I loved the idea and the story had potential but considering it was set in the future I could not get past the 18th century approach to class and sexism. did not help that that voices felt like how Americans believe we speak.
